I traded messages with Melvin Hills about Baker. The two have yet to speak with one another, but Hills shared with me that he has heard great things about Coach Baker and he is comfortable with the move at DL coach and is looking forward to getting to campus.

Texas has extended an offer to 2026 Jacksonville, FL linebacker Simeon Caldwell. A 6-foot-3 and 190-pound linebacker has been a trending upwards on the recruiting trail as of late having earned offers from West Virginia and Louisville. Caldwell plays safety at times as well, so the length and versatility is something that we have seen the Texas staff prioritize over the last few cycles. Hudl: http://www.hudl.com/v/2MEv8u

CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Sure is! Really excited for the fellas to get to play for Coach Dodge. Great replacement for Coach Ross who was a brilliant mind in his own right. -

The NFL Draft conversation is about to get louder and louder over the next couple of days. There are eight Texas Longhorns participating in the All-Star games in preparation for the Draft. Reese's Senior Bowl WR Jordan Whittington OL Christian Jones DL T'Vondre Sweat DL Byron Murphy LB Jaylan Ford East-West Shrine Bowl RB Jonathon Brooks TE Ja'Tavion Sanders CB Ryan Watts **** Byron Murphy will not be participating this week as he is still recovering from a late season injury. Ja'Tavion Sanders and Jonathon Brooks are not participating in workouts either according to the East-West Shrine game roster. CB Ryan Watts turned on the jets in the first practice session. This was a question mark for Watts, good to see him answering some questions ahead of the Combine. By money opportunities for Jaylan Ford, Jordan Whittington and Ryan Watts.

A big visitor added to the A&M list. Texas has a strong start here. -
Dissecting the Junior Days in College Station & Norman
CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I really like the start to the 2025 class for Texas. They can be picky from here on as well. -
Following the massive junior day in Austin a week ago, it is worth taking a look at what the Longhorns will be competing against. Texas A&M hosted a talented group of prospects this weekend for a smaller, intimate junior day of their own. A good number of those prospects were in Austin last week and will be competitive recruitments moving forward. A quick rundown of the A&M visitors this weekend: *** RB Jordon Davison WR Ashton Ansley WR Tanook Hines WR Kelshaun Johnson OL Tyler Thomas OL Ty Haywood OL Lamont Rogers OL Ryan Fodje OL Jonte Newman DL Xavier Ukponu LB Elijah Bo Barnes LB Kelvion Riggins - Committed to A&M CB Caleb Chester S Deyjohn Pettaway - Committed to A&M ATH Michael Terry III A couple of familiar names here. The big one to me is Elijah Bo Barnes out of Dallas Skyline. Texas is heavily pursuing the talented linebacker and recently were able to see him three times in the past week. Ashton Ansley, Tyler Thomas and Xavier Ukponu were on campus last week as well. Texas offered Michael Terry III last weekend on the junior day. He immediately mentioned a top three of TCU, Texas Tech and Texas. Lamont Rogers is a big name to keep an eye on. Also on the offensive line are a pair of Bridgeland offensive linemen – Jonte Newman and Ryan Fodje. Texas offered Fodje last weekend on the trip to Austin. The pair will take visits together, also headed to Houston next weekend. *** Oklahoma had a busy weekend as well. Similarly to A&M, a bit smaller of a visit day compared to Texas' a week ago. WR Emmanuel Choice DL Landon Rink EDGE Max Granville LB Jonah Williams CB Cobey Sellers Jonah Williams is the biggest name here. He was unable to make it to Austin a week ago, however Oklahoma does a fine job here to get him up to Norman. Texas' chances are taking a hit the longer it takes to get him back to Austin. Landon Rink of course is a familiar name in the 2025 class. Lancaster's Emmanuel Choice is going to be a big name as well. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver has really begun popping in the recruiting world and Oklahoma is confident in their pursuit of the playmaker. Texas hosted Cobey Sellers last weekend as well, though similarly to Choice, the Sooners feel good about where they sit for the Shadow Creek cornerback.

A little second half action is right around the corner. Texas put together a strong run towards the end of the first half, but lots of work to go in Provo.

Lovejoy Announces Hiring of Todd Dodge
CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
He was retired for a bit. But like most great coaches, tough to stay away from the game. -
That height and wingspan is legit!

A big move in the high school ranks. Lovejoy has officially announced the hiring of Todd Dodge. Dodge was recently at Austin Westlake where he helped establish the Chaps as one of the state's best programs in the state.

Pair of Longhorns Earn NIL Deals With VW Dealership
CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Good add! @HenryJames -
Two Longhorns earned NIL deals this afternoon with a local Volkswagen dealership in the Austin area. Early Enrollee Colin Simmons and Houston WR transfer Matthew Golden have some new wheels to ride around in thanks to a partnership with Vanguard Volkswagen. And highly touted true freshman Colin Simmons will be rolling around campus with a nice ride of his own.

I didn't originally, then he was used solely out of the slot at the All American Bowl practices in San Antonio and now I think he is an option for anywhere in the offense. He's a complete WR prospect. Eager to get those first practice returns to see how he matches against guys like Jahdae, Brooks and Muhammad.

Steve Sarkisian is up in the north east tip of Texas today. Sarkisian will be visiting Texas High, home of 2026 RB Tradarian Ball and 2025 DB Xavier Skowron. The Texas head coach will also be making a stop by Pleasant Grove to see newest Longhorn commit 2025 EDGE Lance Jackson and stopping by with HC Josh Gibson who joined us on Coffee & Football on Monday.

Feels pretty close. I wonder if the path to the field for Gullette isn't at SAM originally – he will have the athleticism necessary and there's a quicker path. S'Maje Burrell was at MIKE last year early in the season if I remember correctly. Spring football will clarify this picture, but I would expect Lefau to be LB3 going into that live window.

2026 Fort Bend Marshall DB Isaiah Williams was on campus last weekend for the Texas Junior Day. This should be a name to become familiar with for the 2026 cycle. Williams was offered by the Longhorn staff during his freshman year of high school and clearly have remained interested since. Texas has done a great job of getting involved here early. In the last week, Williams has earned offers from Cal, Colorado, Houston, Ohio State, Florida and Arizona State. A pretty significant run. The 6-foot safety was able to spend time with new Alabama WR transfer addition Isaiah Bond on the trip as well. Texas is going to be a frequent visitor to Fort Bend Marshall as Williams is teammates with 2025 CB Caleb Chester who also attended the Texas junior day. Right now, Williams says he is wide open in his recruitment. Though the Longhorns are a school that have made a strong early impression.

It'd be a welcomed development no doubt about it.

Akana needed about 40 lbs of muscle added when he stepped on campus last year. That remains the biggest development for him: getting physically ready for big time college football.

Choice and Sarkisian taking the Guillory commitment this early should give you a pretty good indication of how highly they view him. Guillory also has the fastest verified track time of the in-state crop as well.
