  1. Usually judges rule from the bench on a TRO on whether the plaintiff has a substantial likelihood of success. After that they move to a preliminary injunction phase where witnesses can testify. That has to be held 14 days after the TRO is granted. If its not granted, that usually means the judge is not going to grant the injunction.
  2. This is not in federal court. It is in Lubbock County court. Fifth Circuit court of appeals hears federal appeals and the Texas appellate courts hear Texas appeals.
  3. Wow. Bank up the brinks trucks
  4. My wife who hates basketball has started watching because of Wemby. If he stays healthy he can be the next Jordan as far as viewers go. He is likable and unreal to watch. It doesnt make sense how he is able to move at that size.
  5. Apparently he was paying other people to make bets for him—which is evidence he knew it was wrong—and was under the legal age in Indiana when he made the bets. So the people who made the bets could be responsible also. Betting on your team can also be illegal if it involves score fixing. Some Arizona basketball players went to prison for the point shaving part of it and conspiracy to fix the outcome. Not saying that is involved, but the magnitude of his bets on his own team just look terrible. There has to be a consequence for him betting on his team for the sake of the integrity of the game. Not getting to play College sports seems like a slap on the wrist as a penalty.
  6. One of the things that judges will have to deal with in granting an injunction is the balance between protecting someone’s right (to play college football here) versus the harm to the public interest (reputation of the sport). There is no way a judge SHOULD grant this young man an injunction. It was probably a bad idea to seek one as well as it has now revealed the extent of his problems and likely opened him up to criminal liability. Will be interesting to see the positions his lawyers take publicly given their ethical responsibilities to the court and duty of candor.
  7. As a trial lawyer, he speaks for people who can’t speak for themselves. If he sponsors the website—great. He is not on here making political statements. He is making those statements on his public account. This is a free country and he is exercising his rights. If you disagree with his views that is also what makes America great. Censoring someones views because you don’t agree with them, or trying to get them removed as a sponsor is what is starting to make our country not so great. Try to find some common ground with his viewpoints and understand them—maybe your passion for the Longhorns can be the start of that journey.
  8. I think this evaluation is low and once Muschamp utilizes Giffridge/Kanu/Sharma, Justus Terry, Lance Jackson others at DT /3 tech/DE and you put Simmons dedicated rush—we will be dominant. Getting healthy Vasek and Zina we will be scary. Lance Jackson showed up as a true freshman and made plays last year. I’m more excited about our defense next year than our offense.
  9. One other thing. The stupid sideline questions for the coaches like “what is your team going to have to do to win” are ridiculous.
  10. Get rid of meaningless stream of consciousness from the color guy. Tim Brando is terrible but so are most of the current crop of ESPN people. If I could figure out how to sync Craig Way with tv broadcast I would. sometimes there is a broadcast that has no audio and it us great.
  11. Our defense was at least as talented as Oregon’s last year and Tech did what against them? With Muschamp at the reins Campbbell will conveniently forget he made this challenge. I believe we will have the best dline in the country by the end of the year and Tech hasn’t really improved their trenches. They will be exposed again against deep defensive teams—which their arent many of in the Big 12 other than BYU—and BYU is more of a gritty fundamentals team with a lot of Samoans from what it looks like to me. Sark wasn’t bluffing
  12. Just like most politicians, if the right lobbyists and convince him this is what “the people” want and it will get his name in the press, he will carry the bill.
  13. TCU has been to a natty recently . Id put them on a higher level than Tech.
  14. I wonder if his skin is as thin as the tortillas they love to throw. Great post Gerry. 😂😂😂🤘🤘🤘
  15. Did Kobe get mauled every play by dirty players? OKC is a goon squad. Modern day Pistons. Wemby looked tired last night because I am sure he is tired of having to deal with the constant dirty play he has to tolerate after his elbow throw. Kobe also had enforcers on his team. That is why they got Ron Artest. Wemby needs one on his side. Hell, the only reason I give your arguments much credit about Kobe being the GOAT is because Rodman said he deserved to be considered as one of the all time greats. I dont like Kobe though, I think he was a prima dona and a diva ball hog. That is why I like Wemby better.
  16. I guess the donors’ wives got lonely.
  17. Castle and Fox had great games while Wemby “struggled” offensively. Timberwolves had no answer for stopping them. The first half lead crushed Minnesota’s spirit as did their foul trouble. Ant was pretty effective but he didn’t get any help. Will be a great western conference finals with Chet and SGA vs Castle and Wemby.
  18. I was speaking in general about how bend but dont break keeps your cold offense from getting warm and also keeping your defense on the field longer. Becton is key because our guys were not gassed in the 4th quarter which resulted, if you recall, in a number of goalline stands to prevent touchdowns. If your defensive line is gassed—even with the depth we have—we lose some of those games That is why I am praising Becton
  19. A bend but dont break defense also compounds the problems for a bunch yardage system when the QB is cold. You end up having the QB sit on the bench for long periods of time while the defense gets worn out. The fact we were able to hang in on so many of these games is a testament to Torre Becton and not PK.
  20. I really want us to land him, Meredith, Fakatou, Brock Williams, Garor, Swanson and Royal. Anything else on top of these guys would be gravy.
  21. https://x.com/i/status/2053832375994298554 Sad news. Hope the young man recovers.
  22. My niece graduated from A&M yesterday and the amount of kids walking across the stage throwing horns down was unbelievable. That we live rent free in their heads is a testament that they will never stop being little brother. They have a whole damn song with some ridiculous made up words about how they are tougher than us and mocking the Eyes of Texas. I was laughing the whole time. It is a real cult. They capped it by telling them to donate to future aggies. I wanted to yell “For Jimbo!!!!” But my wife would have killed me.
  23. Our team needs to show up with more fire in their bellies than they did in the Swamp and we will be ok.
  24. I am not a flood fan, but I do have to say he has done a pretty good job of developing three star talents. My disconnect is how some Oline coaches (Georgia/Miami/BlowU) get good production out of freshmen. They are developing them different or recruiting them differently than Flood. It will be very interesting to see how Ojo develops. Maybe Oline divas can be a thing, but as unit oriented as Olines are, I dont see it. Very hard to say a 6’6 300 pound 17 year old is going to have the work ethic and drive to become a round 1 talent. A kid with a chip on his shoulder who mans up between the ages of 18-21 is more likely to be a stud olineman than a diva out of high school. The poor man Larry Allen comment show it. Sonoma State. Erik Williams. Some BFE Ohio college I can’t even remember. Maybe those days are dead and gone, but I don’t know if the juice is worth the squeeze to pay a freshman olineman 3-5 mil.
