  1. I’ve been coming to this deal for years and the longer the panel goes on, the closer we get to the Q&A portion turning into the end of the academic decathlon in Billy Madison.
  2. Especially premium positions. Quarterbacks, left tackles and pass rushers specifically. Those guys aren’t cheap in the portal.
  3. He’s just a ball coach. And a very good one at that.
  4. Sark: “We think we’ve got a heck of a team.”
  5. Sark, as he puts his arm around McGuire: “Joey and I are good. We’re sitting next to each other.”
  6. North Texas coach Neal Brown, who was a special assistant at Texas last season: “I appreciate Coach Sark for bringing me back to Texas.”
  7. I asked Sark about the Hutson situation today at the THSCA convention in Houston:
  8. I didn't go. That was the same time as Sark's press conference.
  9. I'll be honest, I'm out of my depth on the nuances of legal proceedings.
  10. That's it for Sark. He'll participate in the FBS coaches' panel with the other FBS head coaches in Texas at 4:30 p.m.
  11. Sark said Jermaine Bishop has spent the whole summer working with the defense. He'll go back to focusing on offense once camp starts.
  12. Sark on Jermaine Bishop: "This guy loves football. Everything he does, he works on his craft."
  13. Sark is proud that the three guys he's taking to SEC media days (Arch Manning, Trevor Goosby and Colin Simmons) are guys that they've recruited out of high school.
  14. Sark: "We're not going to sacrifice character for talent."
  15. Sark said some of the portal guys they took are a case of "seeing the forest through the trees" and trying to forecast what a guy will be like a couple of years down the road.
  16. Sark on Seymore: "We'll find out a lot more when we get to training camp. But so far, so good."
  17. Laurence Seymore "has done very well" since getting to campus. Sark feels like Seymore's body has changed and responded well to the strength program.
  18. Sark on calling plays: "This is how I learned how to do it."
  19. Sark said calling plays as the head coach was "the way I learned how to do" after coaching under Pete Carroll and Norv Turner, both of whom called their own plays.
  20. Sark with a pretty detailed answer on the 5-for-5 rule. He feels it'll allow guys to develop properly without anyone worrying about the player wasting a year of eligibility.
