  1. Oh, I definitely think there is confusion. People try to pigeon hole what one is. Absolutely define what a positional player has to be, to be a quality player or impact winning. I'm always going to say there are so many ways to win and be successful, with so many different skill set players nowadays in college hoops. Your team runner/combo guard or pure PG (if you find a rare one these days) can be floor spacer shooter that get's a team into action/sets and doesn't have to be the playmaker off the bounce - if said player has another guard playing off of him that's the creator. And parts on the team around him fit to a system and create space and angles. IMO, the systems nowadays are more important than a PG/lead guard/combo guard in college basketball. Or the roster creation. Duke absolutely doesn't have a PG this year. Or a true off the bounce creator consistently. They built a roster with extreme length, enough perimeter shooting and an elite big (who leads team in assists). They have the ability to recruit a roster like that, of course. This is the team runner/combo guard I want as a college coach. (UConn played two CG roles on that team). Elite shooter that can play on or off ball, and still run a team. Absolutely puts high-end pressure on an opponent without being a pure PG, drive and kick CG/team runner at the college level. The plays he made off dribble were more built from the system. And he played in the system beautifully. Rarely was there a drive inside ten feet that was a pure creation. He plays a totally different game in the NBA as a team runner/PG now with the 48 minute spacing in the NBA game.

  4. This visitor is currently in the class of 2027. Feel like Texas is hoping he remains in 2027. Nebraska would take him whether he's 2027 or ends up in 2026.
  5. Florida won the NC with two combo guards last year UConn won the first NC with two combo guards It's because of the systems run now a days. I asked the question because there are very few true PG's these days. What Jason "White Chocolate" Williams said recently is spot on for me. Going to watch a lot of AAU hoops, HS hoops and individual workouts ... PG's are doing drill and skill training more than anything now. Their creativity is being put on the sidelines because the game now is so much about spacing, catch and shoot three's, movement through sets and actions.
