  1. College game isn't what it once was. He wouldn't do as well these days, as he did in years past, imo. It's why Saban bowed out when he did.
  2. Honestly don't think Day is a bad HC, but he hasn't done a great job building Ohio State since Meyer left. He's kind of just keeping it steady (kind of). I'm sure Hartline would be next in line if Day walked away, he would be a great replacement, imo.
  3. He had 360 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT's. A bunch of missed TD plays, too. Not all on him, obviously, but still. I also know you're not trying to blame the D for this loss when they held Georgia to under 300 yards and 16 points, LOL.
  4. Certainly his misses hurt, but when you dominate the 1st half with almost as many yards as they had total in the entire game and you only have 6 points to show for it, that is a problem. We can blame Auburn all we want, but we should've had TD's and not settled for FG's. If we had been up 21-3 or more in that 1st half, you would've forced Georgia to throw more with their back up, which would've played right into our hands. Instead they played how they wanted to and basically wore Texas down. Strong defense with a good running game to boot. Also, you kind've derailed Gerry's thread here, but I guess we all ended up doing that, didn't we? Lol.
  5. Dillon Thieneman would be my only take so far on that list. Imo, we only need one WR, because we have Moore and Wingo returning, plus there is other talent there that has had a year to marinate (Duboise, Butler, Livingstone, Niblett, etc). I could see them going two, if they feel there's need for it. But if Golden decides to return, I could see them still taking one. If he doesn't, possibly two. We'll see what happens when the mad rush happens, lol.
  6. I think Bond will be the guy. But I think Sark is going to have his pick of WR talent this year, it's going to be insane. Plus don't forget you'll have Blue and Baxter out of the backfield, who are both + receivers there. Plus having Niblack, Bond, Bolden, Golden or Cook out there, with Blue at RB would be a nightmare to defend. So much speed to contend with.
  7. Feels like both sides of the line are very strong in state with the '25 class.
  8. God I hope that game isn't a Madden clone. There is so much stuff that has happened in the college world between the last game and this game coming. Having to navigate the transfer portal, NIL, teams trying to poach your talent, etc. I also hope recruiting is much harder, felt like it was so easy to just grab so many top players as a low tier program. Made rebuilds kind of a joke. Anyway, I'll 2nd that idea.
  9. I didn't know he had a son, how old is he?
  10. As most have stated, he'll probably stay 2 years at Texas. He'll likely see some action this year as the back-up, as I believe we'll blow some teams out and actually finish teams off this year. But, my opinion is 2 years. I think Eli Manning did similar? He sat for a year or so and then started 2 years, then went to the NFL.
  11. I'm quite impressed with how far Christian Jones came from where he was when Flood came in. Hell, I'm impressed with how much our OL room has improved in the 3 years under Flood. Recruiting some behemoths and studs at that position. We finally have a great OL heading into next year, with some quality depth. Heard there was some rumours that BC could be looking to take him, but I couldn't even blame him if he did. It would hurt us, but he's been great for us OL wise.
  12. Yes! Glad to see Gerry back, love him. CJ and Gerry recruiting talks are about to be elite.
  13. That's something I really like, too. Getting the Texas talent is important, but there is a ton of talent country wide. I like that we're not afraid to go after them.
  14. They are definitely going to lose some big names, imo. If we can make it work for Texas, great, but it's big news. Moore might've been the good choice at HC but can he make good hires on the other side of the ball?
  15. This is good. With the weapons he has and the OL blocking for him, I'd say that would be a bare minimum.
  16. I think the biggest thing for Quinn next year as an indicator of success is, can he stay healthy and can he avoid unforced sacks. His stat line will take care of itself, imo.
  17. From what I read on 247sports from one of the posters there, is that he's been following both Texas and Oregon stuff on X. Plus with the smoke of the S&C coach leaving and multiple defensive coaches, there does seem to be something there.
  18. I think we only missed on Caldwell because of the Davis move to LSU. At least that was my opinion. He even seemed to be waiting for several days after Davis to maybe see what Texas would do, before he went in on Oregon. Either way, I really like our chances here if he does enter and it does seem likely he will. Adding him as a starter next to Collins would be huge. Would also make most feel good about the room (although I personally feel good about the room right now). I think interior DL is one area where Texas has not really recruited that well since Sark took over. Believe it's one area where he's looking to improve and start getting some of the top guys there.
  19. He's not in the portal, but he has been following Texas and Oregon stuff on X, apparently. But if there is truth in the S&C coach leaving, as well as multiple defensive coaches. It will be hard to keep all those defensive guys there, imo. Unfortunately, most of them won't be able to enrol until later and will miss spring ball.
  20. I think you'll see this # a lot bigger moving forward for Texas. We're just looking for the guys in that room to get bigger, stronger, etc. The room was quite young last year, outside of Sorrell. Burke is going to be a monster, imo. Vasek will, too, imo. Maybe not next year but he's got all the tools. Simmons will be a monster, too. Moore is a great addition and I think Sorrell will contribute. Key players I want to see take major steps forward (besides Vasek), are Akana and Walton. But also Guillette. We've heard so much about this young man, I really want to see him get a run somewhere. One thing to note, is we've been pretty high on getting pressure on opposing QB's the last 2 years. But we haven't been able to get home. I think this is the year we see that pressure continue but we finally get home a lot more often.
  21. Because he wanted to be closer to family and his grandchildren. Even now coaching at Lovejoy, he still won't be that far away. Plus it's hard for these guys to give it up. Look at coach Danaher, he was coaching well into his 70's. I think he just got the itch again and Lovejoy scratched it for him.
  22. This stems from Coach Terry's problem with it during the UCF game, I believe. Teams know he's soft when it comes to that, so they're trying to get in his head. I doubt any Texas fan or player is concerned about it. It's just apart of competitive sports, embrace the hate. Doesn't really matter what Texas does, opposing fans are going to call us soft or whatever, when it comes to horns down.
  23. You put it much better than I could. Being big is fine, but if it's not good weight, it'll work against you. Especially in a game of football. I think he'll come good. Playing on line (either side) is not easy to do coming out of HS. Typically it's not a plug and play position or at least you prefer it to not be. I think Texas has made great strides at the OL for that, now we need to see it for the DL.
  24. Well, I'm not sure it's a disconnect, more the fact he was only a Fr...I think we'll see a big jump from him in 2024, we heard good things about him towards the end of the year. If the effort is there on his part, he'll play a major role in Texas interior play this year.
