  1. I truly think that it was Notre Dame that was trying to lure Ewers to come play there. Maybe he should've gone? Who knows, not sure he really fits their offensive style but what do I know? Could've been Oregon, he would fit that offense more than Notre Dame's, imo.
  2. The problem is, can you rely on a portal transfer at QB all the time? What happens when the guy you get doesn't work out or gets injured? I can see the pro's of it but the cons are also there for that deal. Mateer looks pretty good so far against sub-par teams. Even this years Michigan team looks worse than last years. Outside of Mateer they have nothing offensively and their OL isn't all that great. Even their D that was hyped up isn't that impressive. Anyway, it's a good conversation starter, that's for sure.
  3. One thing I've learned is to stay out of the game threads. I've no problem with people reacting to stuff as it's happening, that is normal. But it personally does my head in lol. Now I just watch the games and react afterwards.
  4. "Wasn't t hat a great play?" - Yeah, it sure was...whatever they did, great stuff...lol.
  5. I don't remember us recruiting Smith? But I know we wanted Moore and Williams.
  6. Why does this name seem familiar?
  7. Maybe he was listening to Gerry's Tushy ad read?
  8. Yeah Arch's shoulder is definitely hurt, in fact it's so hurt the player after this grimace everyone keeps posting about was one he ripped down field to Butler, wasn't it? If he was hurt, you would know about it.
  9. Literally, that's it. He was good at using the talent that Giles brought in, but he left the room bare.
  10. I've no idea how we missed out on him, seemed like we had it locked in and then Oregon dropped in and said "have you heard about Nike?" and boom he was gone.
  11. I'm not going to lie, I was so disappointed. I started yelling "Blake noooo, whyyy." lol.
  12. I've actually been wondering about that. Who do you even replace someone like Sark with, if he does go to the NFL like some people suspect he wants to. That's always tough to do, huh? I'm not really in the know when it comes to good coaches and all that, except the obvious ones out there.
  13. Just to be serious for a second, I would like to see a bit more out of our pass rush, considering how talented that room is. Even with a vanilla defense, we should still have been all over SJSU, sack wise. We'll see moving forward but I'm expecting big things from that group this year. Simmons needs to stop trying to do too much and just go with the flow.
  14. I love that Schloss has gone hard on Pitchers this time around. He's determined not to be short handed this year. I think he'll make a playoff run this time, but that's just my uneducated two cents.
  15. Also, I agree with everyone about Steve Patterson, that guy ruined a lot. No mistaking that. But you can't deny that while Mack had some great seasons, he did under perform, for his talent level, etc. Though Mack was never a great X's and O's guy, he was a good leader and program builder at Texas. I'm not sure Saban would've made much of a difference with the leadership around Texas at that point. I'm hoping that we're determined to NEVER let it get to that point again.
  16. After that Natty loss to Bama, he was never really the same, for some reason. But we're always thankful for him for that 2005 title and recruiting Vince Young. Though he could've definitely had a few more under his belt before that, imo. Either way, I'm fine with him hanging around. Although if he starts talking about coaching again...lol.
  17. Well they have to collapse first before you start poaching their players man lol. We all thought he would flop last year and they managed to pull it together.
  18. Yeah against teams that have no pulse lol. All they have offensively is Mateer making plays, that's it. Improved, maybe. But the jury is still out on them.
  19. I have a feeling the boys get things clicking this week more on the offensive side. I know the D is keeping this very vanilla but would love to see us do a bit more in the pass rush department, show us a pulse.
  20. I don't mind Baker, he's only a SO but you might be right. Not a fan of having FR on the OL. Maybe Cojoe would've been better before the injury?
  21. This next 4 weeks is going to be brutal for Napier and Florida. With all that talent, they still couldn't beat USF at home. Not only that, you're facing some really good teams. I'm not sure he survives the year.
  22. I'm not about going off the PFF scaling, but that's my opinion. I'm not a fan of rotating OL, but that's my opinion. I think you need to do it like this. LT - Goosby, LG - Umeozulu, C - Hutson, RG - Campbell, RT - Baker. I think that's your best OL, right now. I thought Stroh did well last week, but against the SJSU front he got caught with cement feet more times than not and really missed some blocks. I think Umeozulu moves better and continues going after guys, etc. I don't think they played terribly, they're still trying to find their groove. Also don't understand the Hutson hate, he's been good for us ever since his Fr year. Though I'd like to see him be a bit more aggressive.
  23. I didn't think we'd be going after more DT's, I love it. Stack the room Coach Baker! Someone tell Flood he needs to go out and do the same lol.
