    I tell you what, Coach Terry is definitely doing a better job with this team now that they're healthy. Weaver has made a huge difference for this team, imo. We'll see if they can make the tourney, two pretty gutsy wins but if Coach Terry keep's winning and somehow makes a run in the tournament, where we would he have to get to, to keep his job? Another elite 8 run? I know it's not guarantee that we make the tourney but we've at least done what we needed in the SEC toruney, right? Get at least two wins.

    Bro threw a decent ball in practice and all of sudden he's Baker 2.0 lol. Maybe it was how he ran downfield? Baker was a great player, even going back to his days at LT. His hatred for Texas has always been weird, considering that OU didn't want him coming out of HS either or whatever his actual issue is (assume it extends beyond him transferring to OU after being at Tech).

    Also, I don't think I've ever heard someone say "best case scenario" more times, in a 4 minute setting.....ever in my life, lol.

    I was reading he's won the NCAA D2 National Championship 4 times and is 422-94 as a HC. 32-7 in the D2 tournament. He sounds like the Basketball equivalent of Coach DeBoer. Even in his first year at the D1 level with Drake he's 227-3. Now, I've no idea if Drake is any good or if their conference is either. But a quick uneducated view of his resume, it's very impressive.

    Could you give a bit more info about him? Because, regardless of what level that was at, it is very impressive. Just a brief glance at his accomplishments he does stand out as a guy on the rise. Only 43, too.

    Thank you for the response, Gerry. I'm a noob when it comes to Basketball, so I'm trying to navigate all of this with an open mind and learn everything I can.

    From what I say, he's getting less than Coach Terry for his salary. If you don't me asking (because you're one of the knowledgeable guys here about Basketball), what makes Coach Otzelberger a good candidate?

    Just to steer the conversation a bit. What does a realistic option for Texas look like? Say, you don't improve support and the same deal is given to someone else, with the same NIL level, etc. What 5 names would you have on a short list? Now the flip side of that would be, if Texas does put the support/investment into Basketball, who are 5 names you could see them having on that short list? Kind of curious myself, as it does seem (fortunately or unfortunately) that Coach Terry has coached himself out of a job. I'm a complete noob when it comes to Basketball, so I'm happy to hear from some of our more knowledgeable people here.

    I don't think Helm's 40 time is that important, all one has to do is watch the tape and see he's a baller. I think there is too much stock in 40 time's. But that's just my opinion. If he slips down the rankings because his 40 isn't that great, a lot of teams are going to miss a great TE.

    Ah man, not a great way to finish that one. Great job by the guys forcing OT and Tre is just freaking ridiculous, lol. Stupid question (most likely) but what does this do for our Tournament chances? Does it knock us out of contention or do we still have some type of math wizard chance?

    I love the effort from the guys tonight. They've been hustling hard. I know Arky is missing some big time players, but the boys have battled hard.

    Ah, you make a good point. Sounds like CDC, Eltife and the lot, didn't really have much of a choice in the issue. Plus with his run to the elite 8, that helped his case a lot.

    If my googling skills are any good, it says he got a 5 year, 15 million dollar contract. Which if my math is correct, that's about 3 million a year. So I guess I can see the point you and Jordan are coming from with the commitment. Just seems like a place holder type of deal.

    Truly? Seems weird to hire him then if they're not behind him support wise.

    I understand how you feel about it, but they were behind him, otherwise they wouldn't have hired him. He's had the support and NIL to do what he needs. His results have not been great. I'm not a fan of calling for people to be fired, that's not my or anyone else's decision (though they are entitled to discuss it). I want him to succeed and other coaches at Texas to also succeed. Imo, he has done a pretty decent job but he's really struggled this year. Now, do you give him time and let him finish out his contract? Because it appears that those with the money are not interested on ponying up for Coach Terry, similar to how they had stopped doing so for Coach Pierce. Hope he proves everyone wrong and goes on a big tear to finish the year, but I just don't see it happening.

    I don't mind the hire, but I'm curious why? Is he still a top DB coach in college? Do we think he'll be here a few years and then pass it off to someone else? Either way, love to see Coach Akina back on the 40.

    Big win over Kentucky. Had a couple of rough weeks, but got it sorted with a win over a consistently great program. Hope they can ride that momentum.

    He's hardly a kid anymore, but he does need help. Unfortunately, guys like this won't accept any help, they'll need to hit literal rock bottom before they realize the error of their ways.

    No idea who that is, but if Sark wants him, good stuff. What do we think of the hire?

    That's fair. I'm surprised with all the Basketball talent in state, that they aren't a blue blood when it comes to the sport. But I get your point.
