  1. This will be interesting. My understanding is that deals for this cycle haven't been officially put in writing and signed yet. That's the August 1 deal. Could they have had up front payments for committing? Sure, but that's not the same thing as a signed two year contract. What's "affiliated" and what's "true" NIL? We don't know that yet. I agree that's it's likely the courts will alter this substantially; but while that plays out in court, these high school kids aren't likely to patiently wait.
  2. August 1 will initiate an interesting transition point in this cycle. Deals can be put in writing and submitted. Likely to see a number of high profile decommitments popping up by mid to late August. Likely to see player initiated lawsuits too. You know that most of the crazy dollar deals for high school recruits are based in "affiliated" NIL. We'll see how that's enforced and how the clearing house fairs in court.
  3. This is entirely predictable because of the uncertainty around interpretation and enforcement of the House ruling. It will settle. Texas has clearly decided to emphasize roster retention over high school recruiting during the time of instability. It's the best plan.
  4. There's not a "cap," but there is a limit to viable NIL funds. I've been on record saying there is almost no chance this "clearing house" entity withstands higher judicial scrutiny. Even so, that doesn't mean that the NIL market won't become more stable. As that plays out over the next couple of years, there is good reason to be cautious about monetary risk in an unstable market. Texas will not have a talent deficiency in the next couple of years.
  5. Phil Jackson said that if Kobe could have palmed the ball, he would have been better than MJ because he was more skilled.
  6. Kind of like the Nagy deal with the criminal sooners. When you point out to them that Nagy would still be in the NFL if he were an NFL talent evaluating genius, they don't know what to say.
  7. Doubt it. Magic owned Bird. To say nothing about Kareem. But I'm sorry for hijacking boys.
  8. Landry and Parcells called the offense and defense for the Cowboys. Three all time coaching trees. Coryell, Walsh, and Parcells. Jones sucks. Had one of the three greatest coaches of all time, but Jerry thought he knew better.
  9. Literally verified by Phil Jackson. He said Kobe told MJ he'd beat him. MJ said maybe, but you gotta win some titles before it means anything.
  10. Only mofo to ever challenge Michael Jordan who was the best.
  11. MJ didn't play him then.
  12. Kobe to MJ in 1999. I'll beat one on one. Let's go.
  13. Let's be clear. Kobe talking trash the whole time. Facing up on the boy. Telling him why he sucks. Winning the game.
  14. Part of the legend stuff.
  15. Notice Vince Carter ain't defending Kobe. That's because he couldn't defend Kobe. Meanwhile, Kobe on Vince. Kobe on Iverson, Kobe on Mikey. Kobe on Pippen, Kobe on Kidd. Kobe on LeBrick. Kobe on everyone from 6' to 6"9". That's why it's more all first team defensive guards than anyone in NBA history.
  16. Stan Van Gundy: "You can't get into the head of Kobe Bryant."
  17. Never even flinched.
  18. Jerry West told Shaq that Kobe was better than him when he signed Shaq in July 1996.
  19. Kobe's parents are the only parents in NBA history who had to sign his contract for him because he was 17 when he became a pro.
  20. We need criminal charges brought against idiots who voted for Nash or Nowitzki over Kobe for MVP. Same as journalist claiming Soviets were better than Reagan in the Cold War.
  21. Notice, there ain't no LeBrick nonsense here, CJ.
  22. It's the "skill to survive" here, boys. We're talking greatest skilled player.
  23. I didn't know Kobe shoes were now worn by more NBA players than Air Jordan. Having said that, I'd rather have Kobe Adidas. I guess the real players don't think the media got the MVP votes right from 2000-2010.
  24. Kirby has bigger problems than recruiting with Texas, namely, his team can't seem to play well against any top team that isn't Texas: Alabama, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, etc. For those who keep saying Georgia for Texas is like Alabama for Georgia, it was one year, not eight.
