  1. As a Cowboys fan, I love Deion. But I'll take Prince in Nothing Compare to You.
  2. Forty years ago. We were ten. Can't beat it.
  3. Obviously Arnold's development and consistency will be key. I'm sure Bedenbaugh will have the line technically proficient and assignment sound, but that's not enough when you are playing against future NFL D-linemen. It seems likely that the criminal interloper fan base will progressively fume to the boiling point as Gabriel plays well at Oregon and Arnold struggles against SEC defenses. Perhaps the light will come on for Arnold, but it's more likely he gets chased around and has quite a bit of trouble. If they lose the SEC opener to the Vols in Norman, it's hard to see how they win any SEC games other than their home game against South Carolina. Maybe on the road at Auburn, but that's not easy either.
  4. I'd rather have Russell than Lacey. He's bigger, stronger and more athletic.
  5. Based on the problems the secondary has experienced the past three years, you'd want DB coaches that can teach consistent communication and proper technique for various situations, alignments, angles, etc. I will say that reports on the DBs this spring were quite positive until the actual spring game. There's a good chance that the mix and match element of the game created most of the problems. However, it's not unreasonable to say the coaches should have the guys prepared to play in various personnel groups. You don't want to overreact, but these are the same problems, so you can't help but be concerned.
  6. Listening to the SoonerScoop post spring game wrap, you could definitely tell there is some frustration with Venables. They basically called him out for lying about why they didn't see some guys. They indicated they would rather him just not comment than lie to them. More good news is that Arnold still hasn't shown he can consistently perform. Only 50% completions, and almost all of his passing yards were to one guy. Looking like "OU sucks" may be truer than it's been since the 90s.
  7. Bobby, you guys need to go live from there.
  8. Seems like the Longhorns have cooled on Griffin the last month or so.
  9. This is great stuff. With Bo and Rickey committing in the last week. These are the kind of young men you love and want in your program.
  10. Having a completely new offensive line and an inexperienced QB that was a turnover machine in his only start doesn't seem like a recipe for success or optimism entering the SEC. Some of the criminal interloper fans think their defense will be elite, but that doesn't seem likely either. Statistically, their defense wasn't that great last season. Even if the defense is a good bit better (a big "if" since Venables will have a much more difficult time stealing signs now), it may not show on the field or statistically because of the improved competition they will be facing. Maybe it all comes together and they are actually pretty good, but that would likely come down to luck, which isn't what you want to count on. Realistically, seven wins seems about right, which is what Vegas has for them. If that plays out and Venables is pushed out, they'll be worse off than they were when Venables was hired. If that happens, as I said before, the administration will essentially be saying he's just not the guy.
  11. Barring a complete collapse, I think it would be a mistake to can Venables. That said, I am experiencing some schadenfreude with the problems the criminal interlopers have. Soonerscoop admitted they have no offensive line, and Jackson Arnold isn't exactly looking like a world beater this spring. They then said they still think something like nine wins. That's code for they know their looking at six or seven wins.
  12. One more thing. Old school Kobe is the best way to go. 8 is the greatest number. I wish these idiots today would wear it with pride like it should be worn.
  13. One way to think of it is Kobe scored 45 against the Spurs with Duncan and Robinson guarding the rim (and he went to the rim constantly) and a great perimeter defense when 100 points for a team was a high number. It's not like today when they play no defense and every team scores 120 every night. I can't even stand to watch the no defense nonsense today.
  14. Doesn't compare favorably to Kobe in the 2001 playoffs. I'm not saying Kobe is the straight best ever. He's the best as a 22 year old in high pressure situations. My god that guy balled out against Sacramento and San Antonio. I remember watching live as it happened. Couldn't believe it then. Long for something like that now.
  15. Shaq didn't lead a team to a title at 22. Magic did at 20, but he didn't have as many consistently dominant games as Kobe did in 2001. I'm sticking with Kobe as the best ever at 22.
  16. As an east Texas guy, I love Rickey. The last time the Longhorns had a great Ricky at RB, it was 1998 Heisman winner. We're do for some 1998 magic.
  17. Gerry, I know Sark loves this. Kobe for the kill against the Spurs in the 2001 WCF. Steph Curry is a puss compared to this.
  18. Here we are Gerry. My all time favorite game. Kobe for 48 and 16 on 13 May 2001 against the Kings at 22 years old. Followed by the 45 against Duncan, Robinson and the Spurs in Game 1 of the WCF. Nothing like it today.
  19. Greatest basketball from a 22 year old. Gerry what say you?
  20. Are you guys going to explain what's happening here?
  21. What's going on with member pay stuff?
