  1. The timing tells the tale here. No question this was a recruiting move. Sooners must have been hearing from recruits that they were hearing that Venables might not be around long term. Whence the extension, which is really just for two more years. Interesting to see what the buyout terms are. Venables has not really distinguished himself as a head coach rather than just a defensive guy. OU has had trouble with roster management, game management, special teams, coordinator management, etc. These are all things directly attributable to the head coach.
  2. Can't wait to see that goober on the road in the SEC. Maybe Venables will think he shouldn't have allowed himself to get pressured in to putting out Gabriel when he's getting his butt kicked by Ole Miss, Missouri and LSU. Arnold's daddy won't make much difference then.
  3. Arnold is a pre-Madonna. Kinda like Luka Doncic. Too bad that chubby isn't in Oklahoma.
  4. Kelly is talking about the landscape as it now stands, not what happened twenty years ago. If you think LSU couldn't have "bought" Williams, you're sadly mistaken. He made the right call. See what happens when LSU plays the criminal interlopers.
  5. It seems Kelly's comments on buying players has spawned many reactions. I liked what he said. Obviously, he was commenting on Damonic Williams. All nonsense aside, he was basically saying you can't just pay marginally talented guys tons of money in the transfer portal without screwing up your locker room. I'd take Kelly over Venables any day.
  6. I think I'm living in a weird world.
  7. It's not about going to Texas. This is Texas Longhorns site. What are be supposed to say about a guy who decided he doesn't like Texas?
  8. Wrong? Class? Where am I? Is this a Ohio State or Texas board?
  9. I'm thinking 25 or 26 we'll be going to final two with Arch. Davison will be at OSU with 40 carries and 127 yards. Good luck goober.
  10. I'd take any RBs in top Texas 10 over Davison. California pansies can't hang.
  11. If the boy doesn't think he can crack the line-up at Texas, then what does he think he'll do in NFL? Arch is waiting. Does Davison thinks he's gotta go as freshman? Jesus. He's nothing to us. Hose him.
  12. Playing time? If he doesn't think he can get on the field at Texas, then how does he think he'll do in the NFL? I'm saying the boy's a pansy. Rickey ain't no pansy.
  13. Pansies need to man up. If you can't man up, you got no business at Texas.
  14. Does that mean Davison didn't want to compete with the guys at Texas? What do these guys expect? Do they want win or just pretend?
  15. Real baseball guys. This was legendary in the 80s when I was a kid. Bob Uecker is priceless.
  16. I like it. Based on Damonic Williams and now Jordan Davison, I think you can say that Sark is staying true to his word. He's not overpaying, and he's not willing to risk team chemistry. Texas could pay these guys and get them, but it's more important to keep the locker room on an even keel. We're talented enough to compete at the highest level.
  17. Williams is a piece of work. I'd take Daniels or Maye over him because he's such a flake. Since this is a Texas draft thread, I'll add that I'd take Ewers and certainly Arch over Williams in the NFL too. A lot the things Williams got away with in college, like extending the play and holding the ball, aren't likely to translate in the NFL.
  18. If it's the Falcons GM who signed Cousins to 180 million deal, and then turned around and drafted Penix number eight, that wants Sanborn, I'm not sure it's a very good sign.
  19. I always liked Harbaugh until recently. Watching him at Michigan when I was a kid until a couple of years ago, he seemed like a good football guy, hard worker, etc. Even the NCAA going after him for the recruiting violations during the Covid period struck me as silly. What changed my mind is that he just seems to have become slimy. Playing the victim when he knows they're guilty as sin, taking cheap shots in the media, seemingly acting as if he's lost all sense of propriety. Maybe that stuff was there before and I just didn't know it.
  20. Many are not so quiet about saying they expect to win nine or ten and compete for the playoff. That's pretty fanciful. They are much more likely to falter a little with Arnold and win six than they are to have everything break their way and win nine.
  21. I'd bet better than even odds the criminal interlopers lose to the Vols and Tide at home. They lose on the road to Ole Miss, Missouri and LSU. Neutral sight loss to the Horns. Toss up on the road at Auburn. Freeze is pretty flaky too.
  22. Thoughts on the SEC coming out of spring ball. I'm not nearly as high on Ole Miss and Missouri as many who seem to be giddy about the prospect of Alabama dropping. Kiffin has never proven he won't flake out at some point during the season, and Missouri lost quite a bit. I also think DeBoer is as good of a tactician as we have in college football. I'll list a top ten and see what others think. 1. Georgia 2. Texas 3. Alabama 4. Ole Miss 5. LSU 6. Tennessee 7. Missouri 8. A&M 9. Auburn 10. Oklahoma
