    Kobe Black looked really physical live. People in the stands were talking about him quite a bit. The toughest part of college football is the attrition. You start with a full roster and it gets depleted throughout the season. We've had so many key players suffer season ending injuries. The only real chance to combat the attrition is to develop the freshmen so that they can play effectively down the stretch. Kobe is one of those guys.

    I want to drive in for the game, but it will depend on the kickoff time. Anyone have any insight into the likely window? Hoping for 2:30 or later. Noon would be pretty tough to do.

    I don't think it has to do with getting hit. I think it's hesitancy to really throw the ball with his full motion. He only stepped into one throw on Saturday, and was fine getting hit on the goal line for the final TD.

    As long as we don't let Hawkins run free all afternoon, we should win comfortably. But we have a history of letting backup Sooner QBs kick our butts. I did like Sark's comment in yesterday's presser about giving different looks and how the coverage on the back end has to sync with the pressure. A football version of Le Carre's masterwork Zone, Man, Blitz, Spy.

    I think we'll mix in a few plays that look like WR screens but have someone who will get behind the DB's crashing the blockers. Break tendency to create explosives.

    Talk of Owens being out is finally official. (If this is official - I'm not sure.) I'm sure the Questionable and Doubtful list will not be released until the very last minute.

    I bet he can throw just as well with the other hand.

    Hill and Simmons, like all young players, are still learning the breadth of their respective positions, even while they can be spectacular at certain aspects. That’s when coaching, development, and scheme come into play. If we spy Hawkins, we should probably use someone who can really excel at that task without taking away Hill’s game. There are probably 5-6 guys who could do it. Coaches have to pick their scheme and put the players in the right spots. But these two young guys have to learn from the film and recognize that tactics have to change when the QB is a real run threat. Or someone else has to have responsibility for the QB run.

    Home field on one end, road game on the other end. That's a great description of the atmosphere. Can't imagine there are too many, if any, quite like it.

    OU backup QBs who can run are a big problem. We've been bit by that snake many times. I hope Sark has a plan to deal with it.

    Mississippi State is not a good team. I think we’ll see something like 50-10 with a score or two set up by an offensive miscue. Young QB’s are going to make mistakes. Glad that Arch can get some valuable lessons this season before he’s the guy next year. The defense could get a shutout if the offense doesn’t turn it over.

    The day we announced Herman as coach. He made several coach-speak likes (like he wasn't going to watch film on current players) and I knew we'd be in the coaching carousel again. Dishonest leadership doesn't lead to success. That was a bad day.

    Don't be so confident in your math skills. That sack didn't happen on his first or second drive. At least have the self-awareness to retain a sense of humor.
