  1. What scholarship player is going to want to be 8th on the depth chart? Top guys already want to be one of only a couple of guys at a position in any recruiting class. We'll potentially see a doubling of the recruiting class size. Managing this is going to take some very astute reasoning and patience. I don't think it's the cure to anything in college football. Now the NIL budget is going to get watered down by another 20 "scholarship" players. I guess Oregon will probably figure it out first. They sure seem to have everything else dialed in right now.
  2. I'd much rather celebrate Texas than obsess about our opponents. Let's all agree to do that instead.
  3. I'm stunned. I'm pissed. It's Gotch Yarbrough.
  4. We need some mo-mentum. Yesterday’s commit was a real difference maker. Hopefully we have a few more in that echelon.
  5. TA Smith at 220 wow Sydir down a little to 350.
  6. So excited about Bolden. I love that first in-motion to jailbreak screen play. That's a great wrinkle for our screen game. His balance after contact is pretty remarkable too, given his size. Great agility. He's great in motion, but I'm telling you, if he's the "forgotten guy" in a formation, he can embarrass whoever is defending him 1v1. Put Blue in motion to draw attention one direction, and then throw back to Bolden. That could be a big play. It doesn't take him long to get separation. He won't run over anyone, but he can find spaces anywhere and has great hands. He's going to be a big piece of the puzzle this year.
  7. 3 in the same year: UCLA, UAB, USF 3 Big teams for different years: Notre Dame, FSU, Oregon,
  8. So he's going to cover kickoffs? Should be something to see.
  9. Y'all take these "Hi's" way too seriously. It's not a contract. Relax and enjoy your weekend.
  10. JG Wentworth, come on down!
  11. Right after the Fasusi post with Sark in his car? OK.
  12. Isn't that the definition? My sarcasm meter must be on the fritz....
  13. I played soccer against a guy named Henry Neal, who set the national HS 100m time of 10.15 in 1990. That record stood until 2019. Never faced anyone else in any sport who had that kind of speed.
  14. One guy is genuinely likeable, honest, and inspiring to the team, university community, and fanbase. The other is a complete a-hole to everyone he meets. Even if these myopic, cherry-picked results are "similar" the experience of everyone involved in Longhorn athletics is night and day.
  15. Needs to be cast in a superhero movie.
  16. @Derek Handler I see Trey Moore as #31.
  17. I think SMU gave up something like 10 years' worth of TV revenue to move into the ACC. And the ACC is probably going to lose its best 5-6 teams in the next couple of years. I don't see a path for the bottom half of the ACC to keep up with the big time. I could be wrong, of course. But I don't see a realistic path there.
  18. I think our kicker, Bert Auburn, is proof of concept.
  19. Seems really weird to see “Big 12 Championships” with Tennessee and Alabama competing.
  20. Portal window is just for entry. When the window closes, recruiting, visiting, or committing can still be a free-for-all. It only truly ends for a player when he has officially enrolled or has financial benefits of some kind.
  21. It looks like a key to our success on defense this season will be the pass rush. Not to knock our returning starters at Edge, but we've seen Sorrell and Burke for a lot of snaps. They struggled to get sacks last year, even with two All-American level players at DT. Can they improve some from last year? Sure. But I'm not expecting major leaps from them. Based on the spring game and practice reports, our most effective pass rush looks to come from Trey Moore, Colin Simmons, and Colton Vasek. At least one of them, if not 2-3, should be in there on passing downs. They're just at a different level in terms of pass rush ability. (Obviously A. Hill will be a mainstay at LB). If we get too predictable in substitutions, opponents will just go no-huddle on 3rd down and catch us with Sorrell and Burke. Do you think we'll see different pairings on the Edge? How do you all think this plays out in '24? I don't think we'll have the juice we need in the pass rush if Sorrell and Burke are out there on too many passing downs. I'm curious to see what combos are used, and how we substitute.
