Note on Oklahoma St. beating Oregon
genevalonghorn replied to Purplehorn3's topic in On Texas Football Forum
You look at Oregon and tOSU, and they have a series of play-ins the rest of the way. Oregon has (i) USC on the road, (ii) tOSU on the road, and (iii) Michigan at home. tOSU has (i) Indiana on the road, (ii) USC on the road, (iii) Oregon at home, and (iv) Michigan at home. Both can still get in, but you want to be the team with the better record in common games. -
Note on Oklahoma St. beating Oregon

Man all the love and attention Oregon got and how amazing their team is. To lose to Okie State is pretty pathetic. Considering all the amazing talent they have (not sarcasm, they have really good players). -

Maybe team cohesiveness is more valuable than a hodge podge of transfers every season. The irony is that Oklahoma State is a team full of transfers....all from one program. -

Our win versus Ohio State somewhat overshadowed this major upset. Oklahoma State has 15 portal transfers from North Texas. In essence North Texas defeated Oregon. Think about it.

That Denver offense was pretty bad last night. Sean Payton will be taking back the play calling pretty soon IMO. -

He is from Georgia and has followed Georgia his entire life. He will be the first to tell anybody he grew up a Georgia fan and going to Georgia games. He still criticizes them on film and gives honest feedback. -

The Film Guy Analysis...

The game has become less about speed and more about short area quickness. You gotta win right now. The same thing goes for reciever too,the best receivers are the 5'11" - 6'2" guys with excellent route running. Jeremiah Smith is an awesome college receiver, but just like Marvin Harrison Jr he is going to struggle in the NFL. You don't get free releases and run through zones in the NFL cause the pass rushers are just that good. -

I hate to be petty, but I will be - I hope Lane gets his arse handed to him in a sling. He did them dirty. -
His studio guys are 100% UGA homers but I don't think that Brooks is. He will take anti-Texas takes at time but that's just like your opinion, man.

Well one long TD. The pass to Coleman wouldn't have been a TD because he dived for the ball. It wasn't as bad, maybe, but he played his part in things not working either. I'm not too concerned about his numbers, those are fine either way. My problem was several times he missed guys or he didn't read the play well. Even that bad sack he took on the side line. While I was critical and all that during my time watching and posting here. I was never on the fire Sark or bench Arch talk. Either way, he finally got it going late and led his team to victory. Even more so was him not having to necessarily play hero ball, which I liked. When he stepped up, the guys around him stepped up with him.

Whoever it is that is scouting for these portal guys is doing a great job.

I think we are over selling the line’s arrival at this point. We were meh game 1. Robertson still can’t displace (well, we simply don’t push people off regularly) and we had several whiffs. Comparing to last year or highlighting 1 strong quarter out of 8 isn’t the litmus. That’s the lowest bar. Our best running also coincided with a worn out defense. We don’t have a feel for osu’s dline yet in 2026 to know what we measured against. Exponentially better than last year but people still greatly underestimate how poorly we played. It was bad. Not average or slightly under. Adding Cole didn’t make it even average, it simply stopped the unfettered sieve. It is encouraging to be sure and I’m super excited to learn their mean vs their floor/ceiling but it’s too emphatic and/or declarative an article after game 2. Before the binary folks jump in, we could have had a tougher game and it’d still be too early. By ou we should know who we are. 🤘🏽

Spetic is on my list too - until he isn’t. Kickoffs are in the end zone, and all chalk on FGs and XPs.
