Definitely is cringe if you are a Longhorn fan. I get it though. People want a story. Ho him, Texas wins another championship doesn’t have the same drama as historically mediocre program rises above it all and beats the big dog. Not any different than people wanting Indiana to beat OSU in football last year. It’s a cross I think we all willingly will bear to be a perennial power in most of the sports we participate! Don’t expect it to change as long as we are the team to beat

I've been researching this best ever basketball player in the playoffs at 22 stuff. Seems like Wemby is fifth according to a conglomerate AI search. Kobe Bryant (2001 Lakers): One of the greatest postseason runs ever while winning his second consecutive title. Kobe averaged 29.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 6.1 APG, leading the Lakers in scoring through the Western Conference gauntlet (including 33.3 PPG against the Spurs) as the team went an historic 15-1 to win the title. Kobe was the team's closer and best defender, famously outdueling Allen Iverson in the Finals. Magic Johnson (1982 Lakers): Won his second NBA Championship and Finals MVP at age 22. He averaged 17.4 PPG, 11.3 RPG, and 9.3 APG over 14 games. While legendary, he shared alpha duties on a stacked roster featuring prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Michael Jordan (1986 Bulls): Played only 3 games but put on the most individually dominant scoring display in playoff history. Facing the legendary 1986 Boston Celtics, Jordan averaged an absurd 43.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 5.7 APG, including his famous 63-point game at Boston Garden. However, the Bulls were swept in the first round. LeBron James (2007 Cavaliers): Completely carried an underwhelming Cleveland roster all the way to the NBA Finals. He averaged 25.1 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 8.0 APG over 20 games, highlighted by his legendary Game 5 against Detroit where he scored 29 of the Cavs' final 30 points. Cleveland was ultimately swept by the Spurs in the Finals. Victor Wembanyama (2026 Spurs): Reached the NBA Finals. Wembanyama averaged 22.1 PPG, 12.3 RPG, and a staggering 4.0 BPG, pacing the entire postseason in blocks and player efficiency.

You gotta have sonya richards ross on the mount rushmore -
She was dominant and brought eyes to the sport. Being the face of NIL meant trickle effects to helping others in the sport get more money too. She seems like a good person who cared what younger fans were looking up to as well. And every sport now is almost about NIL mercenaries everywhere the game has changed lol

SMU and Cal sitting this one out -
I dont blame her for taking the money. Especially in that sport, but what did she really do for the sport? Nothing in my opinion. She was dominant and surrounded by NIL mercenaries and got no trophies. Didn't even win the big 12. She lost in the semis twice at Stanford and in the finals twice at Tortilla Tech. 1 million to go one extra round surrounded by a hand picked and paid for roster? Congrats to her, her bank account and her individual trophy case, but IMHO, she did nothing for the sport other than being the face of NIL.

In terms of hardware yes and she’s definitely in the top 3 if she’s not. So many great players have come through. Names include Haley Eckerman, Logan Eggleston, and I’m starting a blank on a player from earlier in Texas’ history that dominated at multiple positions. -

Funny enough I took her off the list because she only competed 2 years and didn’t have near the ncaa hardware that Guidry and Alfred did. Of course when you add post UT success she is a much more compelling argument though the others were Olympic gold medalists as well
