THookem Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 There are no rules. Some abide by the spirit of the law. Others have no religion. Quote
FootLaw Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 This seems very wrong. The pro leagues need to step in with rules preventing this if nobody else will. Once you play pro, no going back to college unless you want to be banned from the pros for a period afterward. Quote

Well, a few months ago it was D-League and European pros and now it's the 31st pick in the actual NBA draft. So what's to stop players that don't get drafted to their liking in the NFL from returning to play their remaining eligibility? Apparently, nothing? 2 Quote
PeteyinRichmondTX Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Can We sign Jermaine O’Neal Sr. for the 2nd half of the season? He went to the NBA straight out of High School. He is retired now, but was a 6 time All-Star and plus, his daughter went to Texas. 2 1 Quote

Straight to NBA from HS, Skyline, plus was committed to Texas at one point. Quote

NothinButDaHorns34 Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Why can’t we do the same in football? Lol Quote
Tex555 Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 This is why I rarely watch college BB. Miss the days of seeing a freshmen evolving to be the star of a team. 1 Quote
AusMOJO Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 If you've willingly left college sports, why should you be allowed to come back? How does this make sense, unless they're comparing it to European league players being allowed to play college ball? Quote

No euro leagues in football. It is possible if a player leaves early and then flames out immediately that they could come back to school. Quote

Gerry had said on an episode of coffee and football texas should look into players in the canadian football league for offensive lineman. Not sure how that works, if it could work or if gerry was even serious about that, But bend the rules like other teams are doing to get ahead of the game. Quote
FaxMachine Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 This is why the rule for football is so good. Once you declare for and go through NFL all remaining eligibility is forfeited. Why doesn’t this exist for basketball? Quote
PeteyinRichmondTX Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’d give J’Covan Brown, Myck Kabongo and Ioannis Papapetrou a call to start. Quote

I think Gerry's reference was to high school and college football players, not professionals from CFL. Quote
