Why not get both?  Seriously though, you won’t even know if Toney is going to be in the portal until after Coleman is off the board.  You pursue Coleman until the end and if that doesn’t work out then you look at the next best alternative, whom ever that happens to be at the time.

But Coleman is a different type. He's an outside guy, who can play inside. Toney is an inside guy, who can play outside.

Agree on Bishop. If we are going to more of a pro style of team construction (less players across the board, more impact players from high school and portal recruiting) than we are going to need some of the freshmen to contribute in a meaningful way. Looking at Atkinson and Bishop from the current incoming class.

Toney was solid to Miami for a lkng time and played QB in High School.  Was also undervalued because he was short.  That’s how you get kids like Toney.  No one had him as a five star because he was short and doesn’t have NFL measurables  analytics podcasters glaze.  
 

Bishop can be that guy for us if we let him play and he adds 5-10 pounds of armor this spring.

I’m not sure how closely you’ve been following, but almost every portal “recruitment” Texas has lost has been guys going back to their original schools or not entering at all.

The reports I’ve seen is that multiple of these guys had higher offers from Texas. According to Gerry, one of them had a +500K higher offer from Texas.

Clearly not all about the money.

I agree with Bobby here. They are not only two different players, but also an outside WR really stresses a defense more than an inside WR. Think of the best WR's in the NFL: Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Nico Collins, etc. Toney is awesome. He'd raise the floor and ceiling of the WR room, but an outside threat would make this offense go. We had an outside threat in 23 (Mitchell) and 24 (Golden), but not 25, and look at the results.
