UTTUCK Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I’ll start with mine. Offense: Ivan Williams, big strapping RB, but when I first started really liking him was when I heard a story about a hot shot recruit coming into town for a recruiting visit and started running his mouth. Ivan lined him out and told him to shut the f up, or he’d shut him up. Defense: Brian Robison, very good DE, but so athletic was used on FG defense because of his like 40” vertical. Blocked several in his career. And who can forget the hit on Rett Bomar, fumble and Rod Wright rumbling for about 70 yard TD in RRR. 1 Quote
tsip92 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I’ll play… Josh Thompson - The guy was absolutely elite at downing Michael Dickson’s punts inside the 10 yard line. i think Robison, Bryant Westbrook (elite cover corner that could hit like a freight train), Pat Fitzgerald (great pass catching TE), and Quan Cosby (WR that caught everything that was part of the dynamic trio with Colt and Jordan Shipley) might all be too good to meet the “non-star” qualifier. 1 Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Robison was a star. He killed it in track and field and football. He was no one to mess with. Ask USC. Quote

Wasnt westbrook a 1st rounder? 1 Quote

ArizonaLonghorn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Johnny "Ham" Jones. running back on the 1977 team, which went undefeated and was ranked # 1 in the regular season before losing to That Team Up North in the Cotton Bowl, featuring Joe Montana (still the most painful game I ever watched almost 50 years later). He was Earl Campbell's blocking back (lol) though he was just 5'9" and weighed 184 lbs per the official roster. Earl outweighed him by about 40 lbs. He was always overshadowed by Johnny "Lam" Jones, the electric Olympic Gold Medal winner in (I think) the 4x100 sprint relay. "Lam" was from Lampasas and "Ham" from Hamlin, hence the nicknames. The stars of that team included Earl (Heisman Trophy winner), Brad Shearer (Outland Trophy winner as best lineman), Steve McMichael (all around bad ass, in college and pros), Olympian "Lam" Jones, punter and place kicker Russell Erxleben, and Cinderella QB Randy McEachern who rose from 5th string in August to QB1 early in the OU game when the last two QBs in front of him were injured. "Ham" Jones just showed up every day and did his job. Stats for that golden 1977 regular season include 489 yards rushing on 92 carries (5.3 ypc) with 6 touchdowns. Always had a lot of respect for Johnny "Ham" Jones. 1 Quote

Alex Butler Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago David Thomas, Dan Neil, Chris Ogbanaya, Dusty Renfro, Pat Fitzgerald, Keith and Kerry Cash, Tony Jones, Peter Gardere, Tony Brackens, and Mike Adams. Quote
Roy Hinojosa Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Lil'Jordan Humphrey was one of my favorites, and he should have stayed one more year to at least get drafted. 1 Quote
Clifton Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Quan Cosby, but I’ll say as far as the “dark” era of Texas, I have a ton of respect for Tyrone Swoops. He wasn’t a good QB, but did what it took to be a contributor. Quote

Yeah I almost said David Thomas, but he was kinda a star in that offense. Quote

Yeah it was a tough choice to call him a “non star”, but since he wasn’t drafted til 4th round, it tilted me towards non. But don’t get me wrong, a very good solid player. my honorable mention defensive player would probably be Jeff Leiding. Quote

SB21 Posted 35 minutes ago Posted 35 minutes ago Roy Miller. I grew up with the guy and used to pick on him cause he was younger than me “but not smaller” and he hated playing against me in video games. then enjoyed watching him become a college national champ and had a good run in the NFL setting himself up for life. ah the good ol west Fort Hood days…. Good times. 🤘 1 Quote
Waxahorn Posted 34 minutes ago Posted 34 minutes ago Brian Millard, OT and I may be one of the few that remember him. Quote

Our team walked into the gym at a Waco tournament the summer before his senior year, and no lie as we walked in RT was windmilling home a sick jam thru traffic. The gym went nuts and the athleticism on that guy was fun to watch on the court and on the field. Cool dude, was always smiling and glad he had an impact at UT but knew he could have done so much more before getting himself in trouble. 1 Quote
Trevfo Posted 4 minutes ago Posted 4 minutes ago Bobby Duncum. I had a class with him & his younger brother Duane was a good player also. Quote
