This is the OL.
You cannot build an OL year after year through the portal.
Getting one guy or two guys per cicle I understand. You can't start losing future starters at tackle or guard cause you're going all in on 2026.

I have a feeling that the staff is also looking towards the 2027 recruiting class for the offensive line… Until then, we’re going portaling 🤣

NGL I'm ready for this portal window to end... hate seeing guys that I followed closely in recruiting leave the program.
Especially really young guys.. the older guys I get it.
Just hate it.

For sure fun if next year we're really good but don't like all the uncertainity and lack of relationships that come with  building a team through the portal.
Not on the staff though, they're just doing what they think is best for the program and they're doing a great job so far.

Indiana says otherwise

Look at their damn roster dude.  A transfer from Notre Dame.  The top backup in terms of snaps.  Freshman.  One guy spent two years at Indiana, left and returned.  The other 3 are Indiana guys.  Not exactly portal city.

Nobody is recruiting Brooks to the portal 🤣🤣🤣

I think you would be surprised how many players on this roster are being, and have been, recruited, especially ones with the upside of Brooks.  Other teams have money and room for longer development curves to play immediately.

Got it, so 9 outside of the freshmen. Any outside of Cojoe that have a shot to start?

How many of those would you be confident in playing against Ohio State week 2 of 2026? I count 3-4. Sikorski is unknown but seems capable. So go 4. Boy that’s sobering

That’s hot garbage even if Seaton comes to Texas. Brooks is a starter at tackle the year after next. Could be a starter at guard if no portal pickups come in.

I wouldn't say we're building a team through the portal right now.  We have taken 13 new commitments to date, the second lowest in the top 10.  You have teams like Penn St. taking 35+ (so far), LSU at 26, and so on.  We're entering an era where this is just the reality, and I still believe we're doing it the right way.  It's going to be a balance, and in the next couple of years, a pattern will emerge that validates methods; we just aren't there yet.  Losing Brooks hurts, and it's easy to blame Flood, but it may just be a sign of the times.

There will be multiple injuries. Probably at different times, but guys will miss time/games during the year. There’s not many seasons you go Ofer on OL injuries during a 12-16 game season. So I’m with you.

It happens to every team, but there has been quite a bit of time and resources wasted on offensive lineman with questionable mental evals the last few years, then throw in that we let Felix Ojo play us like a fiddle for half the recruiting cycle while other dudes went elsewhere.
