This is objectively worse than Charlie Strong's OL situation. Sark & Flood have a chance to add more bodies than Strong could, but losing 7 guys in two weeks is a pretty damning indictment of something bad going on in that locker room. It's beyond roster management.

A) They didn't lose 7 guys. Check your math.

B) We started a player in 2014 who had a nickname centered around the fact that he didn't like contact

C) If the locker room is so bad why did all the good players at the position happen to return?

Hard to pay guys second string money when there being offered starter money at other schools and you have a budget

I actually think it speaks to bad evaluations more than anything. Flood’s strategy of recruiting mammoths who can’t move well hasn’t really paid off. Also could speak to poor development. But either way, not one of the departing OL was in any way ready to make a contribution this year and there’s no indication that they’d be any good thereafter. Again, it’s an indictment of Flood’s evaluation and development as much as as anything. That being said, getting dudes to hit on the OL has always been a crapshoot and takes years.

Elite OL Herry Gamilton @Gerry Hamilton is expected to enter the Transfer Portal, sources have confirmed. Texas is expected to be a heavy player in this recruitment, and is preparing a significant NIL package for Gamilton’s services.

Brooks was considered the top pro prospect, including Goosby.

There is nothing Brooks showed on the actual football field to make him a NFL prospect right now. Does it mean he could eventually be one? Sure.

But at some point the high school ranking needs to be placed to the side when we start seeing actual on-field production.

7 offensive linemen?  You have to name them…. Or seven that may ride the wood or make the practice team….. who would you rather pay…. A proven or someone who will possibly develop in two years and then test the waters….

spend the money on a proven commodity…..

or spend the money developing for two or three years only for them to get a “better” offer and leave

I’m mean do you doubt Sark & Harris don’t see the issues at OL. Give them the time remaining and let’s see what happens. I mean they proved last Saturday and through previous HS recruiting classes that they can make magic happen

How many true freshman OL’s look like that as a freshman?

Less than 1% of a high school cycle at the position IMO

Standing anywhere near Brooks would show why he is considered a NFL prospect. Watch his feet and workouts and it becomes even more clear. The fact he was thrown to the wolves at guard and failed really doesn’t take any of that away IMO.

Done freaking out over everything, but Flood and Sark better not mess up the OL, and I'm not just talking about 2026.
People don't like to hear it, but I'll say it again. ad again, and again: with the resources Texas have it should not be hard, at all, to field a very capable OL every single year. One or two guys from the portal every year is understandable, but I don't want to reley on the portal for the OL that much.

In the old era I would agree. Things have changed even since last year. Better get used to this. Ohio state has lost 30 to the portal. This is the new normal unfortunately

@Bobby Burton is there any chance Texas could retain Nick Brooks? I know you said teams have 48 hours to reach a deal is it possible here with him?

He said its highly unlucky.  Check his afternoon portal update
