I can see allowing a starter to come back, but Tech has flip flopped between 2 pitchers at least 5-times. Didn't see that game, but will agree with you that softball needs to fix that pitcher re-entry rule because what Tech had to be doing isn’t “strategy,” it’s a cover‑up. When you’re swapping the same two pitchers five times(like you said), you’re not managing a game. All you’re doing is hiding the fact that neither one can actually get through a lineup. This isn’t clever coaching. It’s a loophole being milked by a staff that clearly doesn’t trust its own arms. The constant re‑entering doesn’t disrupt hitters - it just exposes how thin their pitching really is. If your best competitive edge is gaming the rulebook, that tells the whole story. 2 Quote
HookemTexas Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Tech always using technicalities, credit their staff for knowing the rulebook and how took exploit it, but it's still lame. Just like I think they lead the country in asking for and getting obstruction calls when they are clearly beaten and out. 1 Quote

This team is very different than previous years and lacks both pitching and hitting. This team is in serious trouble. I don’t see them in OKC. Checking in. Is this a John Cena where they’re doing the “you can’t see me”, or you made a joke? Quote

HonkEm Posted May 26 Posted May 26 This portal season is going to be wild. The roster is at 25. If White wants transfers, someone’s leaving. Nobody’s walking out on their own, so the exits will come from non‑renewals or blunt meetings where players are told they have no future playing time. Softball scholarships are one‑year deals, not four‑year promises. He can decline to renew, reduce the amount, or keep a player on the roster with no aid. That’s standard roster management across every major conference. There are some pretty good players that have announced their intentions of entering the portal. Pretty sure White would like to add some of these to his roster next year. 1 1 Quote
Lock n Horns Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Will the proposed 5 for 5 rule potentially impact any seniors on this team? Quote

The NCAA already said the 5‑for‑5 model won’t apply retroactively, so any Texas seniors finishing in Spring 2026 aren’t getting an extra year. It only affects athletes who still have eligibility after the rule goes into effect. 1 1 Quote

Victoria Hunter is forging her final year of eligibility. There are rumors Cambria is leaving. Mike White needs to have hard conversations. Texas needs a good pitcher to complement Teagan and some good bats. White cannot continue to rely on Freshmen. 2 Quote

HookemTexas Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I expect some transfers out from the soon/juniors who have seen little playing time. 1 Quote
