While it's still a tad early to really put stock in RPI rankings, the Horns are now No. 1 in RPI.

What would have to happen for Texas to jump UCLA? Since they don't play ANYONE in the Top25 except USC, they probably won't lose a series. The Longhorns otoh play 8 teams in the Top25 and have a much higher chance of dropping one or more series. Seems really unfair to not even be rewarded for navigating a much harder SOS.

That's why I don't pay attention to the polls in baseball, softball, or basketball. There will always be years that the top ranked teams don't really play much competition until the tournaments start. The only thing I care about is Texas making it out of the regionals and super regionals. From there you can't hide, you either fail or succeed and rankings won't matter.

If Texas wins the series against OU this weekend, they should be #1! Period

Thanks Blake! I’m not too concerned with where the Horns are ranked at this point. They have a great team no doubt but there’s still things that need to be worked on like getting Mendoza’s bat back on track, somehow figure out when A Rod can sit a series and give his hand a break, and most importantly get the back end of the pen on track. Moving Volantis to a starter role created a hole in the back end of the pen that hasn’t been filled yet.

Relief pitching throw strikes, sweep a series and not lay an egg against Tarleton would be a good start.

Texas baseball is finding a way to hang in there and win despite some crucial missteps in this early conference season. To go in and win that series at Auburn after a disastrous bottom nine loss on an error in game one, giving up four runs, really speaks highly for our team and its resiliency.  We just need to keep getting better and reach our potential, peaking at the end of the season.

"While home runs continue to soar out of stadiums at near-record levels, doubles and triples are disappearing from the sport at an alarming rate. 

Games in 2025 featured an average of just 3.19 doubles, the fewest in an uninterrupted campaign since 1992. Nearly 800 two-baggers have vanished from the game over the course of this decade."
