A rebuilding year for Madison Booker’s senior year is criminal. If this was football, everyone would be crying if Sark was depending on a freshmen class for Arch’s last year.

I love Texas. I love Vic. And I love Booker. If this is truly a “rebuild” year, she should have left and I am 100% serious.

Texas just “reloads” NOT “rebuild”

It's only reloading if you keep the players from previous classes or replace them with  the same level portal players.

Well "re-build" has a negative connotation,  however, the talent coming in is amazing. Unfortunately,  we lost Rori to the draft. We will also miss Kyla. We won't miss the three portal transfers because Isi Itute is much better than Carlton, Bri Crittendon is better than Aaliyah Crump, and Addison Bjorn is bigger and just as good a shooter as Jordan Lee. Hopefully,  Bri Preston can step in and run the team! It's interesting that Coach Vic had really been quiet throughout this process.

You're overrating Bjorn particularly this first year. Losing Lee is a huge loss. She's got unlimited stamina, knows Vic's defensive scheme inside and out, and is a vet would have been a leader in the locker. She would have been a superstar for us her senior year once Booker left.  I'm hoping Vann can fill some of that void but Bjorn needs at least a year to really get comfortable. She didn't look that great in McDonald's workouts/games and the other all-star games compared to the other top incoming freshman. There's been some comparisons to her and Shay Holle which isn't a bad one but I'd hope she ends up being better.

But I do agree Itute will eventually be an upgrade from Carlton and Crittendon can be an immediate contributor. I still need to be convince that Preston can run the team consistently for the whole season. She's had solid games but still had moments of immaturity. Plus she needs to elevate her defense a notch as well.

Defense will be the measuring stick for where the team is at. Watching Rori, Lee, and Booker defending in unison was beautiful to watch at times. It will take a least half the season to maybe even get to that point with so many new players.

In college sports today, you go with who you have and ones that want to be here, Hook Em

Good points. Jordan Lee was our biggest loss. Unfortunately,  her parents saw her as their piggy bank.

College sports is business for all parties involved. Med school isn’t cheap.

Vic Schaefer has made at least an Elite Eight appearance in all but one season since he's been the HWBBC at Texas.  My expectations are definitely tempered for next season until I see how this freshman class grows over the course of this upcoming season.  I'm thinking Sweet Sixteen is the worst-case scenario (barring injuries), but I could see an Elite Eight appearance was well.  I do not see Final Four with this team as it's currently constructed, but I hope I'm wrong.

@GoHorns1 @HookemDTX “Y’all are debating the dictionary more than the roster. If ‘reload’ means keeping stars, then no. If it means bringing in elite replacements, then yes. Either way, those five freshmen are the ammo in the reload, so you’re basically agreeing without realizing it.”

The gun went from..45 to a .38  is the difference if we don't add from the portal.

I would argue going from .45 to 5.56 would be upgrading more than reloading, way more powerful.

.45 (458 win mag or 45-70) says I don't believe you in Joe Z. Voice

They knew dell was dropping $750mil for the med school, they could have widdled a piece off to cover med school.

Coach Vic has had a great run since being here and I don't see that train slowing down. It's just that there are so many great teams out there nowadays. The talent at the high school and Euro level is really getting good too. These are not the same players that Cheryl Miller dominated.

The talent is wild now. Back in Cheryl Miller’s day, nobody had to deal with Vic Schaefer’s defense breathing down their neck for 40 minutes. 😀

It turns out that every situation is different. I do know that Aaliyah Crump had forged a strong relationship with Duke prior to coming here. Coaches don't stop recruiting. Justice Carlton was homesick. And Jordan Lee's parents want a bigger bag! That's it. End of story.

to be fair to the original question, I think you're dodging the real question here. It seems the reasons you give here are secondary reasons: given that these players were leaving Texas, why they chose the specific transfer destinations they did (although reporting is that Lee did not actually go for the biggest bag, but that's a different storyline quibble).

As nosy fans, we (I) want to know the real story on what happened in Nashville, and how it was/not handled and why, and the fallout that could have affect two shots at a championship with Madi (this year and now next year). That is the real ask. Realistically, we understand we likely won't be told, because we don't have inside sources like the one that told you in confidence, and because folks who do know are cooperating with keeping the real story buried. But that was the ask — not, for example, why Crump chose Duke against the field of other suitors but why she jumped into the transfer market in the first place.

"End of story" is not just patently wrong but is giving "please stop looking at this, nothing to see here, we promise!" The silence from many different parties has been deafening (including lack of reporting), the vibes stink, and it's frustrating as a fan.
