Hate seeing foot injuries

Yep.

i personally bumped down team goals in terms of seeding

From goal of No. 2 seed to 4-6 seed

Big loss. Multiple guys will have to step up to replace him

I went to a donor practice today - a few observations:

1) David Punch appears to have much more range than I thought he had - he had a great looking shot and was hitting 3’s/long jumpers. I complemented him on his shot afterward and he was very appreciative, saying how hard he has been working on it.

2) It definitely sucks losing Lewis for a while, but Goosby getting more minutes/experience may be a blessing come March. He is awesome.

3) The length/athleticism is still mind boggling after having to sit through a season a couple years ago where Shedrick was the only big body on the court. It seems like we have so much versatility in the way we will be able to play, particularly when Lewis comes back.

4) it is really awesome watching Sean Miller teach. He lives and breathes basketball, and we got to watch him teach in very specific end of game scenarios that I thought was super cool to watch.

Aside from being talented, this seems to be a great group of guys - they stuck around signing stuff/chatting with fans for a while after practice was over and couldn’t have been nicer. Same with Coach - I ran into him in downtown Knoxville before the game this past weekend and told him how excited I was for the season.

There was a time when we would use Florida as an example of a team being very good with a low NIL. Clearly those days are gone.

Florida finding more NIL changes the whole comparison, the old development-first model is getting harder to spot.

Hearing it's Texas vs. Arkansas for Beckham Black with Miami and Duke OV's pending. Florida still in it.

What 5-star PG Cayden Daughtry could factor in. He has OV's to Miami, Florida and Arkansas too

Figured Duke was out with the Australian kid?

@Gerry Hamilton What's the feeling on Daughtry and Black since Daughtry severely outplayed Black at Peach Jam? Is that considered a one off deal?

Peach Jam can swing the chatter fast, but one event shouldn't erase the larger eval. The roster fit probably matters as much as that head-to-head.

They didn't play head to head but Daughtry was unreal at Peach Jam while Black was good. In watching Black's last game, I believe he was pretty fatigued after playing heavy minutes for Team USA overseas and then immediately going straight to Peach Jam. Daughtry did that too I believe but had less of a workload/role for Team USA.

I’m not even sure that factors in. @GQ03hit on timeline

Me personally, Beckham is the better prospect. HS rankings are pro projections at the top … and I don’t think they are particularly close. Beckham is 3 inches (or more taller), stronger frame, longer arms, more vertically athletic … before you get into skill set

Both are damn good players. I can see Daughtry being a better college player in the short time Black will be there. Daughtry is built for college basketball… Black is built for NBA.

Daughtry in the NBA will be interesting… 5-11.5 without shoes. Tremendous player … but he will have to overcome in NBA.

It will be interesting is Beckham gets closer to 6-5. Family believes he’s not done growing.
