Geoff Eneman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I will post some pics when I get home tonight. Daughter is big into hockey and pulled a Matthew Schaefer Young Gun a couple of weekends ago and I got a Schaefer orange dazzler today. Already had a Celebrini Young Gun. I mostly grab Bowman 1st baseball cards and have a bunch of those in chrome and have about 8-10k coming in the paper form by the end of the week. Should have quite a few McGonigle and Griffin 1sts among them. I will buy random Texas Longhorn stuff when it comes up. Got some good ones recently. Just got a Skenes Chrome 1st that I’m pretty excited about. I’ll post a bunch of pics tonight. 1 Quote

I remember my Dad taking us to card shows. One in particular I remember was in the Astrodome beneath the outfield seats. I still enjoy going to shows just to see cards that are out there, but mostly I enjoy taking the younger people in the family to them. I crack a lot of smiles watching the kids lose their minds with cards. I stopped collecting cards in the early 2000s when we started having kids. But I had amassed a huge collection prior. During the pandemic I sold off my Rockets and Longhorn collections. But I still have my Astros and Texans-Oilers cards. I am having trouble (emotionally) letting those go. But I told my wife I am having trouble finding a buyer. She seems to believe me...or is pretending to believe thus far. My dad ran a shop in Georgetown when I was a kid. The junk wax boom was nice because you were never too far from a store. Collected pretty much up until I graduated high school, but did buy a LeBron rookie because I figured it would be worthwhile to have down the road. It's not a huge card, but I like that it has gone everywhere with me since 2003. 2 Quote

I’ve either got the worst Jeff Bagwell rookie card you can have, or one of the best. ‘91 Fleer is like a movie that’s so bad, it’s good! 1 1 Quote

Geoff Eneman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 These are my favorites and the Horns. I’ve got more but didn’t want to overload. And like I said earlier, I’ve got a TON of Bowman 1sts coming later this week and can’t wait to see which ones. 1 Quote

Kinda went crazy buying this past week or two so gonna have to sale some of what I’ve had come in before I get more. Quote

Found an auction site that sales boxes of like 400 each and I’ve bought somewhere around 25-30 at around $10 apiece. Some boxes will have football and Topps chrome and sometimes even better stuff but if I can land a solid # of McGonigle and Griffin’s I’ll come out way ahead. And that’s just those two guys from 24 and 25. Some might have 23 or other years. Won’t know until I get them Friday. They look like this: Quote

Oh trust me. I get into breaks. That’s how I got a couple of good Schaefer hockey cards today. I watched some of the Bowman 26 breaks today but my luck on those is usually terrible. I’ve seen some freaking monsters pulled before. Typically I spend most of my day watching auctions and breaks on WhatNot if I’m not super busy at the office. Quote
Geoff Eneman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I try to add my stuff on Collx as I can get it in and updated. I’m also @GeoffEneman on there. Quote
QuanCosbysBurner Posted May 14 Posted May 14 You could say I have a healthy obsession with Longhorn collections 5 Quote

We did a couple summer vacations around card shows. Good times. Quote
