I don't think many kids are Kelvin Banks level. That dude came in late, took the starting job and was one of the best T's in college ball for 3 years straight.

I was on campus at the same time - he wasn't "Mongo" until later with the Bears, his college nickname was "Bam Bam" after the club wielding wild child in the Flintstone's show.  The possibilities of tie-ins with Hanna Barbera were probably endless.

Seriously he was an All America by his senior year so would have likely gotten top rate for a DL

This kid’s circle is doing him zero favors in terms of his future and personal development, but they will certainly line their own pockets nicely here.  

Camara will be spoken of like the Dutch Tulip market of the 1600s.  Intentionally creating a highly speculative bubble that eventually bursts.

I went to high school with Todd Robison and Gilmer Head Coach Alan Metzel. I'd say Texas should move on.

Khardman: As the article linked states, Todd is the guy who brought Ismael to Gilmer to play football. I won't explain in great detail. Todd's dad was a well known guy in Gilmer sports in the 1980s when we were all teenagers. Todd's dad was our summer league basketball coach. Todd went to Germany as a foreign exchange student after graduation. That's where he established his European contacts. Todd's dad was always great to me. 

I was best friends with Alan's little brother Neal growing up. Their dad was the Methodist Minister at Soules Chapel in the 1980s. Must have spent about 1/3 of my time at their house from the age of 10-16. Their mom was maybe the nicest lady I ever knew. 

All this to say, I know the sports pedigree here and I can read between the lines. Stay away.

With all that said, I went to high school with Louie Gohmert and Mt. Pleasant Head Coach Sam Parker. I'd say Texas coaching staff should make their decision.

Louie isn't involved in Camara's recruitment. Todd is.

Read the article you linked.  Then follow the link for the NGO that’s raising money with Canada, and who leads that NGO.  Then, connect the dots of his circumstances and the “shocking coincidence” of events for where he is now (from France to a guardianship in Gilmer, TX with no family relations involved…what are the chances 😉😂).

I am sure this is a good kid from a very difficult background, and I wish him nothing but the best in his life and career.  But, I’ll remain highly skeptical of how he’s being marketed by others and I would question if football is priority #1 here for anyone involved.  Is the financial risk really worth the on-field reward here?

Feel like there is a narrative that has started on this board that Camara is strictly looking for a payout and he’s another Ojo.  I’ve seen interviews with Camara and read articles that give me a totally different vibe.  In interviews I’ve seen with him he comes across as very mature and serious kid that has to deal with some very challenging life events (lost both parents).  He just moved to the US as an exchange student a couple of years ago after losing both his parents in France.  I believe he came over his soph year so he’s trying to make up 4 yrs of hs in 2 1/2 years.  He’s trying to graduate by December.  That requires him to take 6 summer school courses.   The thought is he will not be able to balance recruiting visits in June with the required course load over the summer.

everyone is up in arms about the kid not doing any OVs.  What does he learn at an OV that he hasn't learned at all the other visits he has had and all the meetings he has already had with coaches and players?  He is choosing to finish school a year and a half early to get started sooner on college.  Good for him to know his goals and get them done regardless of outside noise.  

not sure the comparison to Ojo...i haven't seen any videos of him being manhandled by other recruits in camps.

I know Todd. I have no doubt he wants what's best for the boy. What's best for the boy is to secure his financial future.
