Sark didn’t “punch down.” He made a point about schedule disparity, and Tech turned it into their personality. That’s not on him.

Tech feeling “acknowledged” says more about them than it does about Texas. When a program is that desperate for relevance, literally anything you say becomes their Super Bowl.

And honestly? If a single offhand line from Sark is enough to make Tech feel important, that tells you exactly where the two programs actually sit. Texas is prepping for Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame. Tech is prepping for quote graphics.

This isn’t embarrassing for Texas - it’s embarrassing for Tech that they needed this to feel seen.

Tech can't do much about the weakness of their conference foes but they do control who they schedule out of conference and they didn't seem eager to add any teams with a pulse when they actually had a chance to do it.

The only thing I didn't like about Sark's comment was the shot about our 2's and 3's would (could? I forgot the exact quote) go undefeated playing that schedule.  We have good 2's at WR and maybe RB and a young but likely talented QB but our 2nd string OL looks pretty weak to be bragging about going undefeated in the Big 12.  Likewise on D we could field stout dudes at DL and EDGE and CB but I wouldn't have faith in our 2nd team LB and S units going undefeated.

As Bobby B pointed out the whole dust up looks like Sark trying to be the center of attention and not Arch and his second pre-season Heisman while Joey has effectively moved the convo off of Sorsby. 

Both coaches did a good job changing narratives with these frivolous diversions. Well played gentlemen lol.

I firmly believe Sark was talking to guys like Jalen Brewster, Benny Easter, Sarad Baker to not jump at the $$ and come to a real school with real competition.  I really just hate the idea of punching down to a skank school like Tech to make them feel relevant.  

Also, not sure about protecting Arch.  Sark doesn't seem the Mack type.  Also, as Burton said, not one question was about Arch, so it's not like he was attracting all sorts of negative attention.

"our 2s and 3s can't beat them" isn't punching down?  If Ohio State ever came out and talked shxt about Toledo, Bama about UAB, or if Coca Cola ever talked shxt about RC Cola, you wouldn't think that's cheap?  All this did was elevating Tech to our level.  Why else would we even acknowledge them?

Sark’s point wasn’t that TT sucks but their schedule does and it makes it difficult to compare a SEC record to a Big12 record because of the disparity in difficulty. Don’t take it out of context. He never said Texas would beat Tech just that Texas would have had a better record playing Techs schedule

I don’t think Sark was trying to make it about Tech. See his comments on “basket weaving” and Ole Miss. Sark is fighting for his university and his team and he is still sore from missing out on the CFP last year. Did Texas deserve to be in over teams who played much less staunch opponents? As a fan, I say yes. But judging based solely on record, no. So Sark is leaning in on highlighting the disparity in opponent and schedule, which is stark. He is making the case for Texas he was making last year. He is publicly posturing for acceptance of the narrative that it’s harder to win at Texas than other places. Is that fair? Who knows. But I think he’s sick of the “Texas is the bogeyman” stigma and he’s coming out “guns blazing” (sorry Tech). He’s right and the system is flawed and unsustainable. Until more applicable metrics are applied, and a broader range of them, schools with a difficult conference and OOC schedules will be negatively impacted.
