Texas Tech destroying integrity of sports

Let’s discuss Texas Tech destroying the integrity of ALL sports. Should parents and coaches want their kids and players playing for Joey McGuire who has destroyed the integrity of game?

I don't like it, but they aren't doing anything illegal. 

I akin it to when a Longhorn does something like hit a homerun and throws up the Hook'em.  If you don't like it, don't let them do it. And Texas is one of the schools that is able to go toe to toe with Tech when it comes to money.  It's whether Texas wants to or not.  There are other strategies involved.

If I’m the Big 12 coaches I’d start a league wide Bounty Gate program on Tech players. Incentivize the games for your players now. More injuries, more money.

I just saw on twitter a big 12 ad is strongly considering not playing against Texas tech now because of the ruling

I hope this is the death knell for any chances Tech might have had at inclusion in a Super League

Tech is not doing anything "wrong".  They are going through the legal process.  If there is a bad guy here, it is the judge.

I hope BS plays 3/4 of the season, then gets ruled ineligible, and then Texas Tech has to forfeit their games.  That is my preferred outcome.

Exactly, it’s nothing like throwing up the horns when you hit a home run. It’s actually akin to cheating on a test or plagiarizing, admitting it, getting an F, getting expelled, going to treatment for cheating addiction, then asking the court for your actual grade minus 2 easy points, to get back into school, and to tell the school disciplinary committee they have no authority…because technically you didn’t break any laws.

Texas Tech is signaling that integrity in college sports is a thing of the past. It's an idea like amateurism that simply won't survive our culture.

Yes legally they are not doing anything wrong, But ethically and morally what they are doing with Sorsby is disgusting

Absolutely not . They got away with not paying Mike Leach . They will not get away with opening players gambling on their on team when they are privileged to knowing the injury list .

That is subjective.  This is a legal issue so wrong and right get decided by the system.

I actually still have lots of faith in our courts.  I think the decision to let BS play is a bad one, and I think the system will correct itself as long as the NCAA fights.

CFP committee should refuse to give them a playoff bid. Their schedule is so weak anyways a 12-0 tech wouldn’t impress anyone

I think the winner of the Big 12 gets a bid, so that won't work.

NCAA should lay down the gauntlet - something like "OK, the judge says you can play him but our NCAA rules that you agreed to say he is clearly ineligible for his admitted gambling, so Tech will forfeit every game in which he plays".  

Probably illegal to ignore the injunction but would Tech call their bluff?  Probably but at least the NCAA would be taking a stand.  They always cave.

The only problem I see is one side is arguing emotionally about right wrong, and the other side is arguing from a legal viewpoint.

I don’t see it as an “emotional argument” to say it’s not ever ok for athletes to bet on their own sport, much less their own team. This used to be something everyone could agree on. Insane that’s not the case anymore. College players can now bet on their own team & sport with negligible consequences. If Arch got caught doing this I’d be so disgusted if CDC & Sarkisian acted like ttu is.

A player from an out of state opponent needs to sue for an injunction (in the County of home team) because Sorsby or friends bet on the game to be played that hurt possible draft status. Play the victim like Sorsby defense attorney.
