Texas Tech is a state school.  The Attorney General is protecting a state entity.  I can tell a lot of you don't like Paxton, and none of you like Texas Tech, but the truth still matters.

A judge made his ruling in favor of a state entity.  The AG is protecting the interests of the state entity.   I personally think the Judge's ruling is insane, but that is not the point here.

The NCAA has appealed.  I think they will win in court making Paxton's letter a moot point.

No matter what happens, Texas Tech has turned this into a PR nigthmare and they have tarnished their reputation for a generation.

PR nightmare is exactly right. It’s INSANE!

This is like some soap opera or movie.  Corrupt politicians and football.  This is not a political statement, but this behavior is bad for the State of Texas.  Gov needs to try and reel politicians in.

Haven’t heard anything from the face of the NFL on this.  Mahomes is silent…. I think that tells you what he thinks of his school backing player gambling.

Since it's topical it can stay but if it turns into political bickering we'll have to delete.

I’m no lawyer but why couldn’t a court in any state outside Texas that Tech plays prevent Sorsby from participating? Keep him from playing in Ohio, Colorado, etc.

Broadly, this illustrates how power, money, and talent reinforce one another. A kid wouldn’t receive this level of support; tuition paid, widespread affection, or multimillion-dollar contracts at a young age if he weren’t exceptional at throwing a football. Today, in this warped culture, that skill generates enormous wealth and attracts massive attention and time from others. We need to rethink these priorities: the world is changing fast, and men have a responsibility to invest their time, energy, and focus in pursuits that truly matter. (I'm speaking to myself first and foremost).
