If only it were that easy; there's an extremely high likelihood that Tech is throwing crazy money a la million dollar Canady at her considering SS was the only position they weren't able to buy last year (though they did try chasing Torres last year from reports).  If it's significantly more than what Texas offers, it's a hard decision to make.  I hate Lubbock and Tech, but life changing money would be hard to pass up.

I know that NIL at Texas is good, but could it come close or surpass it?  That's what Torres needs to figure out.

Or she could come to Texas and have a legitimate and real NIL deal with Nike.

Do you think her being a Nike sponsored athlete will have any sway on where she end up? Tech is an Adidas school I believe.

I think that could for sure play into it

Campbell is going to go scorched earth after the embarrassment he just took.

No saving college sports for him.

He going get tech into more trouble. He’s the one with real addiction and mental illness.

Campbell isn't the one behind the softball $$$.  It's his partner, John Sellers.  Sellers wife played softball at Tech and John doesn't want to get cut off in the bedroom.

Edit:  @GoHorns1 beat me to it one post above.

Absolutely less. Texas sends more retention than portal.

Is it safe to assume that Texas is in the top tier when it comes to NIL resources for both baseball and softball?

If not the top, I would think Texas would be that 2nd tier at the very least.  Texas is in the top 5 in terms of dollars invested in softball with OU leading the pack; hard to imagine they wouldn't put the NIL money behind it to make those investments worth it.  Additionally, it helps that Texas is a Nike school and has prominent involvement in nationwide programs.  Kavan and Atwood being part of that Nike campaign did not hurt any image and rumors were that the packages for each student athlete was worth at least $1m in value.

The endorsement deals you can get at a Texas a significantly more than say a Tech where your market is Lubbock and the majority of players are oil companies.  In Austin, being a major city, the capital of Texas, no professional sports teams, and a vast plethora of industries, I would imagine the NIL opportunities are a lot more.

On a separate note, I've seen some posts on social media about how some of the Tech players (from last year) seemed to go out of their way to claim that they were "so much happier at Tech".

As one person put it, it really feels forced because psychology teaches you that if you're truly happy that you've moved on, you're not thinking about the past and your former team much less go out of your way to point out how happy you are.  People will just notice how happy you are if it's true.

Torres’ family has been in the softball world for a very long time. Isa’s dad is a director with the Hotshots (who’s main guy was allegedly tied to the exodus of players to Tech), but he’s also been a coach for a long time.

From what I remember of coaching against him, and within the same organization, is that he will be wanting his daughter to go where she can win it. His oldest daughter didn’t win a title, and now his youngest is on her last opportunity. Isa will make money wherever she goes, but it won’t be steered by money. That family is far too competitive to just take money.

All that to say that Tech won’t be able to just throw money on this one. Joe knows who the game of softball and knows what it takes to win. I bet they’re wanting to know more behind the scenes of the assistant hires before making a decision.  Remember, Glasco has been regarded (by many on the big time travel ball circuit) as the guy who is “missing something” as a coach to be able to win it all.

Last note. That family has done a TON of travel for a decade now. And, when the Torres sisters went through recruiting the Texas softball program was not even a tenth of what it is now. Being up the road in under an hour, as opposed to a plane ride or extensive road trip, is a fun thing for a year.
