Michigan AD Warde Manuel will step down at the end of the calendar year, according to published reports.

Michigan has won national championships in football and basketball in recent years under Manuel's leadership. However, they've also been embroiled in various scandals, including a sign stealing scandal and Sherrone Moore's ouster after an extramarital affair with a subordinate.

I will say that Tech fans were right about one thing: it makes no sense that the NCAA, all of college football, and their own conference was prepared to make them a pariah while Michigan basically got away with something equally bad. Of course the Connor Stallions revelations were national news and widely condemned, but the lack of swift action to denounce a clear example of loss of institutional control is just mind-boggling to me. How is it that the Big-12 had more fortitude than the Big 10? They were prepared to kick Tech out of the league and take them to court. How was Ohio State not so apoplectic by the Michigan scandal that they didn’t lead the charge to vacate all of Michigan’s wins? I guess blue bloods protect their own and morality is always second to the almighty dollar.

I’m normally with ya on things but nothing is quite gambling. It’s awful and the mi consequences were anemic and pathetic but I still think apples and oranges. Big 10 has always protected mi and osu at all costs. Even to the detriment of the other teams. I’m curious to see how they handle Oregon and others long term.

Why would Michigan want an AD that hasn’t won natties in the big three men’s sports?  Or that’s what CDC’s agent should say if Michigan called him.

Agree, stallions was bad, but stealing signs even to the level they went to is more part of the game than gambling on your own team and trying to argue the guy should be able to play. I’d actually say what Moore ended up doing threatening that woman was worse than the Stallions thing. Definitely agree there was some sorry stuff going on at UM.

I think we’ve normalized cheating because it’s just “winners winning”. Loathe it. They should have been sharply punished but that action, unless it is verifiable rampant and game altering, doesn’t color the entire sport imo. Moore is hard for me as it seems more at a personal, than football, level. He sounds cra but I don’t care enough about Michigan to know the details so unless they dropped the ball once they found out, it’s more on him.
