Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 12 hours ago Moderators Posted 12 hours ago We’re 42 days away from kickoff and today’s countdown features one of the toughest jersey numbers in Texas history. Anthony Curl headlines the list after piling up 403 career tackles, earning two All-Southwest Conference selections, and serving as a team captain. His 157 tackles in 1992 remain one of the best single-season marks in school history. Richard Peavy was a three-year starting strong safety and four-year letterman who helped Texas reach three bowl games while providing steady play in the secondary. Caleb Bluiett rounds out the list after contributing on both sides of the ball, appearing in 44 games while recording 43 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, plus 10 receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns. The current No. 42 is freshman deep snapper Trott O’Neal. Who gets your vote as the greatest Longhorn to wear No. 42? 🤘 1 Quote
PaulieD Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago This one will be hard for me. I'm going with A Curl. Bruiser. Love Caleb B's name tho. Steady player. Quote
Beldar Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Richard Peavy. Think he was the one that knocked Marcus Dupree into never never land . Marcus went to Texas bench and UT players jambed together blocking OU trainers from getting to him. Marcus ended up leaving OU soon after that . We did not have to face him for two more years. He was a beast. Edited 11 hours ago by Beldar Quote
General Grant Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Curl certainly underrated historically. Was on the first time I followed. Quote
Burnt Orange Horn Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Peavy and Curl!!! Honorable mention to Bluiett! The effort of all 3 is why retiring numbers is so dumb beyond belief!!! Would love to see all of these guys in featured interviews on OTF anytime!!! 🏈🤘🏻🏈🤘🏼🏈🤘🏈🤘🏽🏈🤘🏾🏈🤘🏿🏈 Quote
Here for the Wins Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Curl is certainly underappreciated. It’d be cool to talk football with him. A generation too soon. A football player. Quote

He was a fave when I was coming into my own as a Texas fan for age 7-10. Love me some Bluiett too Quote
