Joey McGuire is a really weird dude. 

His lack of self awareness is bizarre.

I understand gambling addictions are a serious problem, but the way they've handled this is disrespectful to people that are gambling addicts or deal with substance abuse or other addictions.

Does Tech really send him to rehab if Sorsby's wagers on IU games and other bets aren't discovered? Because Tech didn't find out until Sorsby told them, which just so happened to be after Sorsby's camp found out folks knew about his gambling problem. 

I'm all for folks getting better, getting the rehab and treatment they need, but man, everything felt so disingenuous about this from the jump.

Yep, Sorsby got caught gambling by a gambling site and Tech tried using his addiction to their benefit.

Every time they bring up the "rehab" talking point, it's extremely offensive. Outlandish.

Apparently their "rehab" included him participating in the very activities he was addicted to betting on.

(Not to mention him being a negative influence on others)

It's like taking a recovering alcoholic to Spring Break Miami and expecting them not to "relapse". 

Or having a drug addict hang out with Snoop Dogg and Ozzy Osbourne. 

Ironically, the NFL and NCAA are the only ones actually looking out for Sorsby by banning him. 

Joey McGuire and Cody Campbell are so tone deaf, they'd probably take Sorsby to Las Vegas for a weekend and then tell everyone he's "cured" because he didn't place 1 bet the entire time. 🙄

I don’t think Tech actually cared that he had a gambling problem considering they thought he could just go to rehab for a couple weeks and everything would go back to normal. It was all a PR stunt to make it seem like they wanted to help him.

As a Cedar Hill grad (long before Joey arrived, though I have some friends that remain close with he and his wife) it is amazing how much the community still loves him. I get it, CH football was a doormat until he arrived. Yet, I wonder how those fans are feeling this week after Brewster announced his transfer (without even informing the current high school coaching staff). To say Joey was not informed/involved at some level (if not one of the architects of the move) would be ignorant, but I think continues to speak to the type of guy he really is.

CFL banned him too. Every major football league in North America rejected Sorsby. Yet community college still doesn’t see anything wrong.
