Rivalrygameblock Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago LSU was the perfect target for this governance marker. Loud on the front end to create visible, public drama and can’t afford the fight when it gets real. Quote
TTown Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Basically the SEC wants the ruling to help give them the green light on self governance. LSU gave them the ammo they needed. They also named Kiffin in the lawsuit. That he orchestrated those players filing suit. LSU, Kiffin etc were given 21 days to respond. My suspicion is the SEC had more goods on this, and will likely fine LSU or suspend Kiffin etc. Negotiations are probably going on as we speak, since LSU blinked. Expulsion was just included to get their attention once and for all. But again anything is possible. Also read where Attorney Clayton implied the players may sue LSU. So LSU will pay them off to keep Kiffin's scheme from coming to life😂 Hope it was worth it LSU!! 1 Quote

LSU handed the SEC exactly what it needed, and now Sankey’s just cashing the check. The 21‑day response window, Kiffin getting named, LSU blinking - all of it lines up with the SEC tightening the screws and using this as their precedent case. LSU thought they were playing chicken, but the league wasn’t swerving. Quote

It's a no lose battle for the politicos because they get votes regardless of the outcome for "sticking up" for the "team." Of course, it could only happen in Louisiana. The state of Louisiana should invest in literacy rather than LSU athletics. It won't happen because corruption is most definitely profitable on the bayou. 1 Quote

Yeah, I hear you --- once politicians start poking around in college athletics, everything gets messier. But the playoff expansion stuff is still being driven by ESPN and the conferences chasing bigger payouts. The Louisiana circus didn’t create the 24‑team bracket; it just showed how chaotic things can get when outside forces jump in. The money is what’s steering the ship here, not Baton Rouge. 1 Quote

I'd argue the LSU situation with the Governor basically taking over the LSU athletic department is not closely related to playoff expansion. Landry saw a way to increase his political capital, and knew he could get away with it in the state that is more corrupt than Tammany Hall because it's always had the lowest rated education system in the country. No doubt the political side is also financially motivated in the end, but the money comes from different places. Quote
AusMOJO Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago LSU is a sh*t show and Lane Kiffin is the cherry on top. 1 Quote
