AustinsTruth Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I know people might be feeling high and mighty, especially the irrational believers/defenders of Sark/Arch ahem Bobby. Unfortunately, the same exact things that almost cost you the game against Tennessee, and did cost you the games against OU and Florida, happened again. First, an insane amount of penalties. I know people hated the refs and I disagree obviously with the false start and also the PI where their receiver initiated contact and then fell over intentionally. The rest of the penalties were earned, the one on Lance and Ian was also initiated by Ole Miss player, but it's pretty known that refs only catch the retaliation. No consequences, no accountability. Second, special teams. Fake punt, shocking. Onside kick given up AGAIN. Multiple penalties from kids who have not earned and sure as hell shouldn't feel comfortable enough to think it's okay to do the stupid things they did. No consequences, no accountability. Third, Arch's turnovers. I don't think the strip sack was on him. Without that, he had two interceptions. One of them was late and inside (for like the 100th time). The other was clearly him not seeing the field well. Two weeks in a row where the safety turns his hips and Arch thinks that safety just doesn't exist anymore. Fourth, some bad play calls from Sark (3rd and 2 call that I had hoped would be retired after 2024 Ohio State). He is clearly pushing to make Cam Coleman a deep threat when it has been made blatantly obvious that he does not have the ability to catch the ball running full speed over his shoulder. Offense still gave the other team a touchdown. Should have given them more points with the first interception but the defense bailed Arch out big time. Defense bailed them out by getting a stop after the 4th quarter interception by Arch also. A true change was the ability to run, like against Ohio State. The other change was the defense had a first half that was the best they have had all season, better than the second half of Ohio State because they saved points on the interception. The defense made 2 of Arch's 3 potentially disastrous turnovers not matter. Arch is getting WAY too many flowers for having a very, very average performance where he put the team at risk again. I know he had the two big passes (shout out Cam Coleman) and the big third down run. Other than that, he didn't do anything that every D1 quarterback should be able to do. Too many mistakes, no consequences, no accountability. Sark and Arch owe Will Muschamp, Justin Cryer, Rasheem Biles, Jelani McDonald and Alex January a bunch of money for saving the team on Saturday. LUCKY to get away with a win, not because Ole Miss was the better team but because you tried to give the game away, again. Lucky the defense you were playing against is garbage. Congrats, you scored 34 points on an Ole Miss defense that is terrible (gave up 38 to Louisville and 52 to Florida). You scored 7 for them, so you really only had a net of 27. Knowing Sark and this team, the win and point total will mean that nobody has to answer for their bad plays/decisions/discipline. 5 1 1 Quote

Shmatt Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Dude just be happy with the win, I’m sorry but if you’re expecting a perfect 4 QTR team this year it’s not going to happen. Things will look gritty and ugly but it is what it is, survive and advance. We’re not the only team struggling with the same things 1 Quote

Atticus Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago I don't even blame Arch for the first pick. That DB wasn't supposed to be there and it would have been a completion if they didn't both take the same guy. Blind squirrel finding a nut thing. It was thrown a hair late, but nothing egregious. The pick on the pass to Winston was an Arch style pick all day. We showed something to get excited about and the team should be able to feed off of that moving forward. You saw renewed energy and effort from the entire team when Arch played the way he did. That's all we need to beat every team left on our schedule outside of LSU. Quote

I am okay with the defense giving up points or the offense not scoring. Can't keep having the self inflicted gut shots. Obviously we play some good teams and they have an opinion too. Losing a matchup is expected, a freshman punching a guy in the face is the stuff that can't be allowed to go un(severely)punished. Quote

thecalculator1 Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago people need to realize college football, esp. the SEC, is much more like the nfl now. just win baby. some of yall are stuck in the past fixated on style points. we actually played 3 quality quarters for the first time this season (meaning = improvement) 1 Quote

Sundancekid Posted 28 minutes ago Posted 28 minutes ago We have a brutal schedule and a bunch of great pieces that are learning to be cohesive. Steady improvement is the key. The penalties must go though some of the officiating against Ole Miss was brutal. Quote
Darrell Mynar Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago This team and staff are just this way. Starts with Sark. He's undisciplined in his play calling, handling of players and his coaches. End results is what you see on game days. Players who do stupid things to get penalties, plays called that make you wonder "wtf" was that and coaches that continue to put their room on field that is totally subpar (special teams). I'll just ride the win for what it is this week. I fully expect the remaining games to be Rollercoaster every week. Quote
tfoster40 Posted 23 minutes ago Posted 23 minutes ago sorry buddy I’m sure there is some good points in there but I ain’t reading all of that. Quote

Winning like that bothers me for the same reason it bothered me against UTSA and Tennessee. Then we lost to two unranked, trash teams. Last I checked we still have to play @ LSU at night (probably), and @ A&M in a rivalry game we have won the last two seasons, just like OU. Quote

I think these are fair criticisms but I also think you’re missing the point that we saw 3/4 quarters of excellent football. So I do think there is some change, but I think it’s fair to say the change has to happen faster. 4 Quote

We could lose to everyone left on our schedule or win out. This season is hard to explain. Georgia lost to Auburn at home. If the original poster reads this board, very few think we are anything but what we have seen. Capable of beating Ohio State and losing to Blow U or Florida . We won. Apparently the poster thinks we should never have a close game or get a penalty. Sorry, with this crew we had Saturday, we average over 10 penalties in all the games they do and 6 with rest of SEC refs. Non SEC refs we have less . Quote

William Gillean Posted 14 minutes ago Posted 14 minutes ago So I have been and remain critical of Sark's playcalling on offense. However, I do think we should consider not framing everything through the offense. IMO this should clearly be a defense led team. And they performed pretty magnificently. Now if the offensive playcalling could continue to adjust to complementing the defense versus operating in an offensive vacuum then I think we might settle down and play some more consistent football. On Arch's second interception, I'm not sure you are helping the team out by calling a deep wheel route to your 3rd string(?) TE with a backup LT in the game. I agree Arch needs to eat that but why are we calling that play in that instance? I don't get it. I liked the commitment to the run game. I wonder why we got away from the short passing game. Those really complement our defense. There is a path to more consistency for this team but I think it means playing to win with defense and a bit of ball control. Your thoughts? Quote

You can't possibly be so blind to think that the issue is a close game or getting a penalty. The issue is making it a close game because you act and play stupidly. We have had plenty of penalties without this crew. You're gonna get a penalty with every crew when you punch someone in the face, tackle someone 3 yards out of bounds, and hit a QB in the back 3 steps after the ball is out. Have an original thought for once. Quote
