losing Bo hurt us

Is LSU blaming their previous DL coach today? Absolutely not because LSU hired a coach with recruiting experience and relationships, and is in turn landing recruits. Sark hired a coach with zero relationships or recruiting experience and has whiffed on every target he got to take an official visit. This isn’t Bo Davis fault, our loan commit was a a player Bo got to commit to Texas, Baker couldn’t convince him to stay and he gave him a real chance. Texas fans LOVE to blame previous coaches for the current coaches shortcomings, it’s a favorite, a continuous tag line. Surprised Herman isn’t at fault for us struggling on the recruiting trail this year in all honesty.

Some of you guys are seriously acting like kids right now. Sark hiring Kenny Baker didn’t hurt us, losing Bo hurt us and we knew that would happen. It’s so crazy that a guy we had recruit all these guys on the DL for a while went to LSU and now they follow him as well, especially given the fact that he was a fairly big part of T’Vondre’s and Byron’s success in being high draft picks for that position.

But let’s act like this hire as trash as if we didn’t hire a WR coach from the NFL who landed us a 5 star last year. The dude literally just got hired not even half a year ago and people are acting like this is a horrible hire 🤣

yeah...threads like these attract the trolls and Negative Nancies of Doom Gloom Agony of Defeat and Despair...they will go away when things are on the upswing...and that ain't far away

As for Brandon Brown...we KNEW this was coming

Or taking your time hiring NFL asst coaches instead of proven college coaches didn't help either.  We lost the top 2 WR's in the state the last 2 years as well.

Texas was never getting Micah Hudson in 2024, why are some fans bringing that up when that was known for a long time.

Baker has been here for all of a hot minute and you’re acting like it’s all his fault. If Bo is here we have Zion and Brandon. Both were being courted by Bo for a while before Baker ever got here and yes he’s had success and is more proven. But you acting like Bo going to LSU and us losing out on Brown and Zion has nothing to do with the fact that he took the kids he was recruiting who trusted in his development and had a long standing relationships meant nothing is funny. If your logic was right then hiring Chris Jackson should've been a disaster. Yeah kids come to play for a Sark offense but having a good WR coach still matters and just because he decided to hire from the NFL versus college didn’t hurt us. Maybe your right and Baker was a bad hire, but blaming him without ever seeing how his coaching and recruiting abilities actually will play out yet is dumb.

We went from having a coach who had good standings with the recruit to that coach going to LSU and those kids following him. Baker is playing catch up and he was about to land Sharma until Oregon bag dropped on him last second.

It was a horrible hire at an important position. The guy has no resume to speak of and you want him going against big time DL coaches.

No relationships in Texas either. You don't have time to wait to see if he pans out. Hire the best damn DL coach that is worthy of a program like ours. I don't blame him he wasn't the 1st choice, this on Sark. And we are paying for it and will continue getting negatively recruited  by better coaches . And at least help him with NIL til he proves he can do it. Stick your head in the sand itr SEC warfare now

No, Sark choosing not to spend the market value or slightly above at the position has hurt Texas. Knowing the guy doesn’t have the skins on the wall , we needed to go above and beyond to give the guy a leg up on a top 3 most competitive NIL market position.

You’re making my point for me. And instead they followed the coach they had a relationship with to his new school. Had Sark hired a coach with prior relationships or one that actually worked in college we’d have some commits right now. Instead he hired a DE assistant coach from the NFL with no relationships and no recruiting experience. For one of the most important positions that’s a huge gamble to say the least. I’m not saying he won’t end up being good what I’m saying is blaming Bo for Sarks decision is comical.

Entering the SEC. Sarkisian should have hired a coach with skins on the wall. Possibly a ciach from another SEC school. Sarkisian screwed this hire up.

There was no time to potty train an unproven coach heading to the SEC.

Correct! LSU hired a guy with skins on the wall like a power program should, recruits followed. Either we couldn’t get someone to make a lateral move or Sark decided he liked to play roulette.

All I can do is 🤦🏻 at some of these comments and how ignorant some people can be. UT is not the top program in the nation (yet); still need to have sustained success to consistently win over the best recruits in the nation.

We haven't had trouble winning over the best recruits in the nation the several couple yrs. Ja'Tavion Sanders and Xavier Worthy in 21. Kelvin Flood and DJ Campbell in 22. Arch Manning, Anthony Hill and Cedric Baxter in 23 and Colin Simmons, Brandon Baker and Ryan Wingo last year. Maybe think about that instead of calling those that are concerned with why Texas is struggling so much this year ignorant

I think several things can be true at the same time:

1.  Did Baker’s lack of relationship hurt us with Williams and Brown….absolutely.

2.  Sharma signed off on Kenny Baker until Oregon came in at the end and offered more than what UT would.  That’s an institutional loss…..not a Kenny Baker loss.

3.  Charles and Wynn were both expected to go to Florida State and committed there.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how great of a relationship Baker has with a recuit if Sark is going to let every team outbid us for the DT’s we want.

I think there is enough data after three years to show that Sark just doesn’t want to allocate the type of NIL funds to the DT position that it takes to go win these National recruitments there.

Hopefully we take the mil plus we were offering Moore and split that between two of the DT’s that we previously have lost out on.

First of all these young kids don’t owe coaches or teams any kind of loyalty.  Clearly money talks.

Maybe Bobby and Gerry can speak to this, but it was my impression that these kids also have some sort of representation/manager to negotiate NIL.  They also have family giving the kids opinions.

so, given this era of NIL and Portals, I think to save ourselves some angst we have to start with believing that what the kid does is probably more important than what the kid says.  I definitely learned this lesson.

finally, yes Texas is probably going thru growing pains especially given this is the first year in SEC.  Once the season starts, let’s see how Texas does.  If we are successful, then the recruits will come.

Bc no kid wants to have a firmer NFL Asst as a coach?!  Come on.  You win some, you lose some.  They’re unpredictable kids, like herding cats.

He was an assistant to the real DL Coach in Miami. Barely even mentioned in their media. He wasn't the DL Coach. No great college resume, and never at a big D1 school. It is what it is. He wasn't the 1st or 2 nd choice I get it.

But we could have done better and paying the price now. Especially if we won't spend to help him. This on the job training will cost us for years to come. Hope it's not the case, but the trends are there. I don't blame him, Sark hired him. But negative recruiting just got easier at that position no doubt.

Don't ever associate or listen to stupid people. The more they talk, the more your head will hurt!!!!

Sending this message to the recruits when they make a silent commitment to Texas, and then are inundated with rival negative recruiting…😊🤘🏼
