Bobby Burton
Let's see if this ruling holds with new presidential administration. I'd also add that this likely pushes House settlement back even further.
TTown
Sure powers that be expected this and more legal issues. I never felt the House Case would be implemented for the 25 season, just too many things to muck it up. Maybe 26. We will see if Congress finally decided to act as well. Next few months will be interesting to say the least.
.45s
Crazy idea. If that holds up because the money comes from the schools, the schools and boosters would probably have to back to some of the external collectives not run by the schools. However, the Dept of Ed may have just put a bigger target on its back from the new administration. Some people would like to get rid of it all together. There is no equal pay for faculty and a lot of staff so why should the same be true for athletes.

Alex Butler
2 hours ago, Realist Horn said: The opportunities are proportionally available, as in any athlete can seek any level of NIL, however the interest and availability of those opportunities is based on the return on investment. If you pay a QB 2 million for instance the expectation is the revenue generated from that player and the program success will be returned many times over. Unfortunately, football and men’s basketball are about the only sports that generate the revenue to justify such large payouts to star players.

If house doesn't pass for 25 there might be 8000 portal entrants in the spring, so many teams have built their payouts to recruits and portal incomers on rev sharing. Sh*t would absolutely hit the fan, no program even the elite NIL ones would be immune from a massive portal exodus
Bobbers
An era of meritocracy is coming so this won't survive. I don't think we will even have a Federal Department of Education soon if the new administration keeps their promises.
dfwHorn
The work around is simple isn’t it? school hands out $1 contracts, then the NIL Collective pays the QB the $2M dollars.

Not really, the Department of Education noted "the fact the funds are provided by a private source does not relieve a school of its responsibility" for Title IX compliance. There is no way big money donors will continue to give if half their donation has to go to the women's basketball/softball/volleyball teams. It's just the way it is.
