That would be an interesting hire after the Kelvin Sampson debacle.

Those guys are just throwing out every name, writing an article about each one, and none of it includes any insight on who the IU administration is really pursuing.

I'm expecting a flurry of movement next weekend.  With conference tournament action about to begin, it is time to look at which (other) schools might be making announcements soon.

Virginia won the tiebreaker among the teams finished tied for 9-12 in the ACC, received a first round bye, and will play Georgia Tech in the second round of the ACC tournament Wednesday, noon ET.  I suspect they will announce a new coach there very quickly if Virginia loses that game.  Ryan Odom of VCU is supposedly the leading candidate now.

Villanova has conference doormat Seton Hall on Wednesday, but it then has to play UConn Thursday.  Nova is likely to miss the tournament for the third straight year under Kyle Neptune, and in the first two years, it was bounced from the NIT in the first round.  Neptune is toast.  It isn't just the three years without a tournament appearance, it is also the way Nova lost a bunch of games this year with late game collapses, despite being a team with 5 senior starters.

I love the trend of hiring NBA assistants in college.

The reason is why though?

Is it offensive style

Is it pro mindset setting up program like a professional organization due to NIL, etc...

Or is it ...

Colleges aren't going to pay these 4-5 mill (and could be more) buyouts?

Something that also would not be a problem for a school hiring Wade, McCollum, Pitino, Odom, or Murray.

I am warming up to Ivey. He'd definitely unite the former basketball players. Durant, Aldridge, and Ford would all love the hire. Texas needs a complete reset, and I am really not all that blown away with the typical retread coaches that are in their late 50s-60s. If Duke can turn the program over to a 1st time head coach, so can Texas.

CDC will get a big name coach who no one expects.

I hope so because some have already thrown in the towel and are convinced the "big name" coach will never happen, but I agree with you.  CDC wants a top 10 MBB program and he will get one
