Roysterr Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I've heard a lot of speculation, of how far along his rehab is. Some sources say mid season return some say beginning of Fall camp? Do we even know if he is running in a straight line yet? It's now been 6 months since his injury. 2 Quote

Moderators CJ Vogel Posted February 26 Moderators Posted February 26 He is starting to move more. Some slight jogs. No cuts. Won't participate in spring ball. 13 1 Quote
Chris Evans Posted February 26 Posted February 26 personally i am not counting on him at RB next year. 4 Quote
qaertyisthatdude Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I don't think he'll return to form until 2026 at the earliest. Texas should take a RB in the spring portal window to be on the safe side. Don't want to rely solely on true freshmen, Wisner, or Gibson to take a big step forward. Plus with a longer season, having depth at RB is key. But having an OL that can move people in the run game is more important than all. 2 Quote
Bevo92 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 For CJ’s longterm health, I hope he doesn’t rush his rehab. If that means he rehabs another full 12 months and returns the spring of 2026 at 100% then good for him and the Horns. 🤘🏼 Would be a disaster if Baxter had to go through another tear of his ACL because he rushed and came back too soon. Look at Jonathan Brooks and his re-injury of same knee (re-tore ACL in non contact injury) with Indianapolis Colts after ~13 months of rehab last Dec. Sucks for JB because this next rehab is expected to be even longer. CJ, come back when 100% ready then be our rockstar RB in 2026! Hook em! 🧡🐂🤘🏼 https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42877330/panthers-rb-jonathon-brooks-again-tears-acl-right-knee 1 Quote
ElCafetero Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I had a similar injury and I was out for 13 months 2 weeks and 5 days (I had a calendar so I kept track of the days) 1 Quote
Roysterr Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 (edited) I just remember that Christian Clark had a worse injury than Baxter. Many RB's have come back from an ACL tear after 9 months and been very productive. With Baxter having the injury in mid August, I was a hoping 12 months of rehab would have have him ready for Fall camp. Adrian Peterson tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee Christmas Eve 2011. grade 3 tear of ACL & MCL. He returned to play at the start of the 2012 season. He finished the season at 2,097 yards rushing. 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson's NFL's season season rushing record. What a freak ! Edited February 26 by Roysterr Quote

HookemHorns Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Shocking to me that a portal RB doesn’t seem to be a priority. Fingers crossed! Quote

I just don’t see it as a high priority given what’s still in the room. Bringing in a proven rb also increases the likelihood 1-2 jump in the portal. I’d rather the staff focus on other positions where there’s less returning production. 1 Quote

Last year was below avg production. Compare our RB room to almost anyone in top 10. 2 Quote

Spring ball has to play out so we can see what RB's become available. Any guy they take has to be a needle mover and durable. We can't do like we did last year and get a guy who's talent level isn't SEC level and isn't durable. We need a guy who has snaps and can be counted on for snaps when the bullets start flying.🤘🏿 1 Quote

If Jerrick Gibson jumped in the portal at this point, what do we really lose? If he runs from competing...already having been here, we don't need him on the 40.. and that goes for any other kid. Tre isn't built like that... Clark and Baxter are hurt and Simons' a beast and Ricky knows he needs to redshirt and get bigger and stronger. Soooooooooooooooo......🤷🏿♂️ Quote

Who would go to the portal? Cj and Christian are hurt. Tre is the #1 and ain't built like that. Simon is going to get clock as a freshman and Rickey knows he's headed for a redshirt... with possible carries in the non con schedule that's soft. I don't get the fear! If Jerrick leaves... having been here all this time, so be it. He hasn't had an Adrian Peterson like freshman campaign. 1 Quote

Good luck finding a better back out of the spring portal window where intra SEC xfers have to sit a year. Also you have a new rb coach so what signal do you think it sends to the room if he goes after RBs in the portal. Choice didn’t think there was a need. I’m only saying this because that’s what other schools will use along with NIL to get guys to jump in the portal. An injury doesn’t mean a player won’t risk the portal. It’s not really that big of a risk if the NIL deal is in place before the player goes in. Quote
drag worm Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Be cautious with his return. Hit the portal hard for a one year solution. Quote

We needed a SEC caliber featured back last season and have only gone backwards with Blue’s departure. If we want to give Arch a chance he needs more starting experience at WR1 and he needs an RB1 that can do more than wide zone. 1 1 Quote
