Itsamystery Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) It’s probably just me, but I am willing to bet the staff and coaches have a plan with multiple options in place to address the running back position. Just let them do what they are very well payed to do. Edited February 27 by Itsamystery 2 Quote

I'm not a doctor but I have a good friend since my student days at the University who was an emergency medicine doctor for several years and then got into practicing sports medicine. He qualifies his comments like all doctors do with the usual "He's not my patient, etc." He says that since the injury was reported to be more than a simple tear of a single ligament ( like an ACL injury) you have to be conservative and allow for a longer period of time for post-op rehabilitation. So he says 12 months from the injury would be possible but optimistic to project a return to the field. On the pessimistic side, he says it's possible to expect up to 24 months from the date of the injury to project a return to competition. I'm sure the Texas staff will be careful with his future. As a fan of his, I'm hoping he's a fast healer and doesn't have any setbacks or complications. I'd love to see him back by the Oklahoma game. We know he's a hard worker and a dedicated team guy so here's hoping for the optimistic case for his return to the field. Hook 'Em! Quote

There are 4 ligaments in the knee, ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL. do we know his real injury? patella tendon or hamstrings affected? I dont know his injury but as a DPT i hope it not more than 1. ACL and MCL go together often but it not necessary that if you tear one you tear the other. If its more than 1 ligament tear, estimated is 10-13 months till full recovery and that is with the surgery going well and rehab going well. He might be ready for Ohio St but to assume that even in mid summer is a bad assumption/guess. Texas will have to add a RB and that could make things tricky for any of the non freshman returning RBs.
