Sheddrick and Kaluma have been ass cheeks in the paint. Onyema is a foul machine and Kent is limited athletically. Larry should've started at PG all season... but a more effective paint presence was paramount and the people who make decisions left RT flapping in the wind. We knew all off-season they needed help in the paint.

So why didn't you donate the 7+ figures to land him? You all can keep harping on not bringing in Toppin but reality is no one was going to put up 7+ figures for 1 players with a coach of a team they don't trust. Especially considering that is coming from personal money of donors. Even with Toppin we improve by what, maybe 2 games in conference, make the tourney and get bounced first weekend? RT is still fired. 

 

Donors are going to be counted on for buyouts so that 7 figures is better spent to that this off season.

What recruit is looking to head to UTEP or Fresno? Maybe you stumble upon a Kawhi Leonard, but it wasn't like they had a budget or setup to compete on a major level.

Beard wasn't in those trenches with those guys. When they did pressers, it was all about RT and the job he was doing. It's been awhile though... people forget when it's not going well. No pity party here.. it is what it is. Just funny no one acknowledges the lack of commitment to men's basketball when it comes to acquiring talent. BYU figured it out before us.. and it's just shocking to me after knowing the deficient post play we had on deck... they did little to nothing. Just smells like a lame duck/give him low grade ingredients and expect a 5 star meal type deal, as far as expectations...when in all actuality, he was a band-aid moreso than the guy you really wanted to give the keys to.

That's exactly what RT was, seriously. If Texas doesn't beat Xavier then Sean Miller is the coach of Texas basketball. But unfortunately for Texas basketball or fortunately, RT was the guy who happened to be in the right place when Beard committed domestic violence and the team that Beard assembled and recruited carried RT to an Elite 8 appearance. That put CDC in a tough spot and he won't make that mistake again, I'm sure of that.

Not good but the man has been coaching basketball damn near as long as I've been living. RT has a bunch of players, but not a team, and it's a reflection of the NIL/Transfer portal era. Sometimes you can't just shop at different stores and put an outfit together.

Ron Holland going pro didn't help, either. I also believe he wasn't able to recruit the 1st year due to the uncertainty of his hiring after the season and not establishing he was going to be the guy. Any recruit that was out there was already locked in with other coaches by then. So.. in all honesty, how much effective recruiting could he be expected to do?

Larry isn’t a starting PG in the SEC.  The big men have been trash but that’s also on RT. Just because we didn’t have enough money for Toppin doesn’t mean we didn’t have enough money for other solid bigs.

That isn't a coaches duties. You see the football team has a GM....right? Commitment to the program..is the question.  That's how you get commits.

It is my understanding that the coach(no matter the sport) has total control over how the budget is utilized. David Pierce used NIL as poor or more poorly than RT did. Believe it or not Sark and some others had to convince donors that Colin Simmons was a generational player and pushed for the NIL package he got.

RT Got his shot.  He has not maximized his opportunity.  I'm not going to feel sorry for a guy who has been paid $15m to provide average results.  We can make all the excuses in the world for him, but at the end of the day he's been given what he needs to be successful at Texas and he hasn't done anything special.  

I wanted him to get the job so he could prove himself.  He hasn't.  Now I want someone else who can level-up the program.  Sorry, RT had his shot, he's taken it, and it's missed for me and a lot of other fans who see a rarely motivated, incohesive team.
