During a press availability Wednesday, junior defensive tackle DJ Hicks was asked about how the defensive line will replace three potential NFL draft picks and what fans can expect from the unit in the future. Hicks responded, in part, saying the unit’s motto is “C.B.O.”

In a follow-up question asking what “C.B.O.” stood for, Hicks said, “In simple terms, choke a woman out. Let’s say that.”

“Those guys really showed us how to be, how to be the best D-line we can be with their work ethic and how they went about their daily business,” Hicks said. “So, I think we still are trying to go through the model, still trying to stay with our motto with ‘C.B.O.’ That’s what we stand for and just trying to follow Coach Spence’s coaching and Coach Tony’s coaching and I think we’re going to make a big step this year.”

Lol that’s just not smart. Even if that is whats being said which is bad enough. Who in their right mind would say that at a press availability 🤣

I get these guys aren't geniuses but could have easily pivoted to "Choke a Brotha Out" like it's a UFC fight or something.

It was that easy.

Wow! Openly espousing violence against women. And to brag about it to the media?! Good for Elko for stepping in.

To me it sounded like Elko was not happy that it was made public. Maybe I am not reading it correctly but here is the quote from Elko:

When asked about the comments during his scheduled media availability, A&M head coach Mike Elko said it was “absolutely ridiculous that that was stated.”

“It’s conveying something that shouldn’t be conveyed,” Elko said, after a disappointed look down at the podium. “So, we’ll get that handled and addressed.”

I can see that. If that’s the case, then Elko will fit in nicely at aggy.
