?? What about the SEC spring transfer rule though?

You are allowed to transfer from SEC school to SEC school.   However, if you transfer after spring, you must sit out a year (or redshirt).

True statements, but there's a right way to negotiate - maybe something like "hey guys I got this incredible offer for twice what I'm earning here.  I want to stay but come on, I know every one of you would be gone with a raise like that, so can you sweeten my deal?  You know I'll always love Tennessee.  I'm gonna miss Tennessee if we can't negotiate something fairer, but I'll always love Tennessee."  Lay it on thick.

Something like that maybe?  Sounds like his 'agent' (dad?) is negotiating Tony Soprano style, maybe overplaying his cards and rubbing everyone the wrong way.  For sure Nico is losing the public relations battle.

I totally understand where you're coming from. The thing is, we aren't privy to the absolutes, only what's being portrayed.. and the establishment always has the ability to speak from a position of power. I know don't see Nico as "that guy"... but where would Tennessee and Heupul be without him?

The thing is he's already been making $2M per year and his production doesn't quite scream that he's underpaid. The bigger thing here is the position that he plays. A QB is supposed to be the leader of the franchise and the last thing they should be doing is walking out on their team. You don't think NFL GMs aren't going to have a huge issue with this and have questions?

NFL GM's are aware that they will be in such situations. They get out ahead of it early and sign guys to deals before there forced to.. like Jerry was. It's par for the course, you guys just clutch your pearls because it's college football, and this has been nowhere near the norm. Now... you're opinion is he wasn't worthy of what he was able to negotiate, but remove him off that roster... and go thru this season after he lead that team and university to the CFBP.. 🤷🏿‍♂️. They made a lot of money off that 🍑 kicking they took in Columbus. Just saying...🤷🏿‍♂️. This is an example of who and what you believe in coming back to bite you in the 🍑. Capitalism.. at its finest. At least in college football terms.. Amerikkka is finally "great again"... just not for who you're used to it being great for... 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏿‍♂️🤘🏿

Dude was ass. He didn’t make Tennessee what they were. 12 of his 19 passing touchdowns were against teams that were a combined 18-32. He was a non factor in most of their bigger games. This isn’t pearl clutching or not. At 2 million based off his results this season he’s paid above what he should be.

Holding out isn’t the new norm, in fact he’s the first to do it. Not replying to text or calls from your teammates or coaches isn’t the new norm. It’s downright selfish stupid behavior.

What you have is a helicopter dad that’s about to torpedo his kids future.

With a game-manager at QB they're probably in the same spot. That team lived and died with their running game and defense. I don't recall one game that swung their way because of Nico put the team on his back. Regardless, I don't have an issue with these guys making money but there is a right and wrong way to go about it and leaving your team high and dry when you are one of the leaders ain't it.

I’m still thinking USC is behind all this Nico drama.  He’s a SoCal kid, and Lincoln Riley has a track record with QBs who offer the run/pass option, even if they lack passing accuracy.

USC can’t go into next season with J.Maiava at the starting QB, can they?

Yeah I know the rule - you REALLY think someone is going to pay him $4-6 million NIL to sit on the bench a year, then he could simply move on again?  No way.

Was is right for Duke to send Malik packing after a 9 win season at Duke, and then pay a kid 8 million for two years to take his spot? When it's the organization making the call, there's no outrage.  When it's the player over the organization, you don't hear any push back.

This will be the new norm, because college athletes are now getting paid.  Quinn was the first to leave high school early and take an NIL deal, and now how many early entries do we have in the spring, that should either be high school juniors or seniors right now? The game has changed.  No longer is every kid so in love with the university that they'll turn a blind eye to green money. Plus, we only know what the media is telling us about the situation.  There's two sides to every story. Maybe they promised some things that didn't come to fruition.  You don't know.

I just don’t understand it from Nico’s perspective, especially given the timing. Sometimes we gotta remember that these kids don’t always have people around them that want what’s best for the kid. I have no idea if that is happening here but it’s not always the kid is all I’m saying. Very interested to see how this plays out.

No, it’s the kids uncle and the kid’s father driving the drama, but the real question is what school do they have lined-up making a big NIL offer that prompted this game of chicken with Tennessee?  I’m guessing USC.

FYI, Nico’s uncle is none other than street agent wannabe “Coach” Cordell Landers…yes, the same guy who led the Damonic Williams NIL sweepstakes last year (which turned out to be a lousy investment for OU).  “Coach Cord” is a SoCal guy (Fresno area) who got hired as a recruiting analyst by Florida a few years ago, and got immediately fired within months (due to alleged recruiting infractions). LOL.

Since the beginning of the NIL era, he’s now playing the role of “agent” for kids he knows from SoCal area, including Nico (his nephew), Damonic Williams, and others.

No, I don't think it was right but the other side of it is that if they want to be paid like professionals then getting cut and replaced will be a part of it too. And again, Nico will have some tough questions to answer when he's sitting in front of NFL personnel trying to explain why he up & left his team.

It hits much differently when a QB does it as opposed to any other position. For example, all of the guys like Bear Alexander that shut it down after 4 games didn't get nearly as much attention as the UNLV QB that did the exact same thing.

The price of milk has gone up. I saw Nico taking major hits and coming back to play. They made the cfpb. He's a premium player at a premium position. Crazy how we want a starter out of the portal.. but we kill a kid that might go into the portal. In a capitalism crazed society like America, it's funny to see you guys try to judge whose worthy of getting more money and tryna determine when they should go after it. Think NIL is destroying college football? It's about to get a lot worse. These kids understand the game and how the universities have been getting over on them, and they don't have any brakes when it comes to mashing the gas and getting everything they deserve and then some. When you date a girl and start off tricking...spending money to impress her, don't think a year from now she'll be ok with McDonald's. You gotta keep her living a 5 star life. Get what you pay for!

This is such a stupid statement. In no way is Nico’s production on the field worth anywhere near what him and his buddies are asking. He is not a premium player at all. He’s basically a carton of milk with 2 days left to drink it to your point…. If I have the best milk with a shelf stable life on it that I know I can sell at a higher rate is one thing, but Nico certainly isn’t that.

Not shocking as I believe Nico is the nephew of Coach Cordell Landers. Yeah that clown that pimped Damonic Williams last year. Remember the LSU trip and the sparkler video 🤣🤣🤣. So if he is involved it is shady as hell. And sure Unc gets his fair share $$. Damn lucky our Collective is run the way it is, and our philosophy on how it is done👍🤘

I agree with you here. We can't just shift all the agency to the players and not give the colleges a leg to stand on. If you want to be paid and treated like professionals, than that is what happens. Although I think the Murphy situation was weird, because he played really well there and I don't think he deserved that treatment from them.

But that is unfortunately the reality of college sports now. They wanted to be paid, well there is pro's and con's to that.
