A) Nico’s lawsuit against the NCAA (which was handled by Tennessee) alleged antitrust violations. The SEC has a legitimate defense. He can transfer and wait a season, or he can go to any other conference and play now. This is very different from the NCAA’s blanket prohibition.

Dude wasn’t a top 5 QB in the conference alone and thought he should be getting paid so. Once Sampson went out vs Ohio State that game was over. The entire offense revolved around Sampson and you can easily see why. Tennessee won this 100%. The boxing guy should stick to just that!:)

My guess is the coaches felt the team’s floor/ceiling wasn’t going to change materially with Nico playing QB. No one in Knoxville will be very understanding with 7-5.

Looking at their schedule, they have three guaranteed losses (Georgia, Bama, Florida) and two 50/50 games (Syracuse, OU).  They should win the other seven games on their schedule.  I say they split those and finish 8-4 and miss the playoffs.

Good Lord this thread is wack. A player should be able to determine was is best for them; (just like a head coach does when they bounce from one job to another). The school and coaching staff should be able to determine what is best for their program. Fans should be able to have an opinion on a players requests/actions and have an opinion on how the school reacts to said requests/demands. For those that didn’t realize or are willing to accept NIL changed college football forever need to sign off the interwebs for a while.

Your opinion of Nico and his play didn't line up with Tennessee. They saw fit to be negotiating with him since December to keep him. They obviously thought they were better with him than without. So all that he sucked crap last year.. and Tennessee didn't send him packing when they got the opportunity. So either you're a better OC and Head coach than Huepel and his OC, or you don't actually know wtf you're talking about, just repeating some stats provided to you by others.

They didn't care because it was UNLV and a qb they didn't know. It was Nico this time.. and he's been hated and scrutinized since he took the pay for play deal they tried to hide under NIL. The reason they are so pissed is because they had state officials sue the NCAA to protect Nico and the university with the deal they did, to argue it was legit. They got him on the premise of money...the opposite of how we recruit here. Why they expected him or his family not to hold them hostage over MORE MONEY when the market dictates the ability to possibly earn more, i do not know. They essential got what they paid for. You can say they got a raw deal... but only they made a CFBP with him as the qb. I'm sure they made more than the 5-7 million he's gotten over the years. Funny... Tennessee fought tooth and nail to keep a kid that you all say aint worth a damn. To the point to where he had to no show before they gave up. This has been going on since December.  Why didn't Tennessee see what all you paid armchair coaches and offensive coordinators' see? Why didn't they cut bait after that, according to you guys, 💩 performance at QB this past season? I mean, we are in the transfer portal era, guys. I'm sure Huepul and the gang saw someone out there in the 1st portal window who was better. Any answers...?? Someone... anyone? Explain that part!

Why didn't they pull a Duke... get rid of their QB and go buy another 8 million dollar qb?? If he was SO DAMN TERRIBLE... why did they allow themselves to get into such a position? They are going into the last portal window... blowed a full winter and spring training season, without getting a starting qb better than Nico. But.. u guys say they "won"? I guess you have to look at the positives...🤣🤦🏿‍♂️💩
