Tuco Ramirez Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Just now, Realist Horn said: Since it's the Spring Portal, Nico would not have any SEC teams bidding on him - and not sure many would if the $4mil price tag is close to what he's seeking I was just about to post this. SEC is out of the picture. Unless Oregon is poaching here, no one in at a P2 school is going to sign him.
Hashtag Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Word on the streets is that Nico's dad called Lanning looking for a deal and Lanning told Heupel about it. Probably how this story blew up. 2
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted April 11 Moderators Posted April 11 Nico can’t return to Tennessee now Fan base will boo his ass out of Knoxville Dad better start calling Cody Campbell 3 7
FatherofMinky Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Nico’s production and inability to hit wide open receivers does not justify a raise. He’s not even a serious NFL prospect from what I can see. 1

Tuco Ramirez Posted April 11 Posted April 11 What a POS. Doing this to your team at this point. Now fake UT has to scramble to find a new QB and spring is halfway over. 1

I would have believed that an SEC secret cabal was tampering to drive up Tennessee payroll was the culprit, but brother Dan ratting out the family is truly juicier.

The problem that both Nico and Tennessee have is that teams are already practicing with their ones. Too late now to start breaking in a new starting QB. 2

The El Camino Real runs through Austin and San Antonio, not Lubbock! (bypassing BCS I might add) 1

Tuco Ramirez Posted April 11 Posted April 11 It’s just a matter of time before we see breach of contract or even tortious interference lawsuits.

Burnt Orange Horn Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Nico has cooked the Tennessee locker room. No way he is returning there. SMU?? They will pay and he has all summer and fall camp to catch up. How is Miami doing at QB?
817 Boxing B Posted April 11 Posted April 11 The price of milk has gone up. I saw Nico taking major hits and coming back to play. They made the cfpb. He's a premium player at a premium position. Crazy how we want a starter out of the portal.. but we kill a kid that might go into the portal. In a capitalism crazed society like America, it's funny to see you guys try to judge whose worthy of getting more money and tryna determine when they should go after it. Think NIL is destroying college football? It's about to get a lot worse. These kids understand the game and how the universities have been getting over on them, and they don't have any brakes when it comes to mashing the gas and getting everything they deserve and then some. When you date a girl and start off tricking...spending money to impress her, don't think a year from now she'll be ok with McDonald's. You gotta keep her living a 5 star life. Get what you pay for! 4 hours ago, Texasborn91 said: Let him walk. He sucks 1 1

The thing is he's already been making $2M per year and his production doesn't quite scream that he's underpaid. The bigger thing here is the position that he plays. A QB is supposed to be the leader of the franchise and the last thing they should be doing is walking out on their team. You don't think NFL GMs aren't going to have a huge issue with this and have questions? 4 1

In a capitalism crazed society like America, it's funny to see you guys try to judge whose worthy of getting more money and tryna determine when they should go after it. True statements, but there's a right way to negotiate - maybe something like "hey guys I got this incredible offer for twice what I'm earning here. I want to stay but come on, I know every one of you would be gone with a raise like that, so can you sweeten my deal? You know I'll always love Tennessee. I'm gonna miss Tennessee if we can't negotiate something fairer, but I'll always love Tennessee." Lay it on thick. Something like that maybe? Sounds like his 'agent' (dad?) is negotiating Tony Soprano style, maybe overplaying his cards and rubbing everyone the wrong way. For sure Nico is losing the public relations battle. 4
