Bobby Burton
We believe John Timu is joining the Texas coaching staff in some capacity, most likely as a defensive assistant but not in an on-field capacity. Timu spent last season as the assistant defensive line coach for the San Diego Chargers. He played at the University of Washington and three seasons in the NFL at linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Timu was recruited to Washington by current Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen while on Steve Sarkisian's staff in Seattle. Jerry K
Sark following Saban's footprint. Saban always had a bunch of analyst's on staff.
Jbro52
I think this will be another solid addition NFL experience both playing and coaching and familiarity with the staff
David Latiolais
When you say they are the analyst and not an on field coach, does that means during practice they are not on the football field but in the building instead? Or can they actually be on the football field coaching but just not in the games?

Beveaux
What is the limit on off-field analysts? And, coaches?
Driskill33
Love that Sark is building up the analyst tree like Saban did.
AusMOJO
I've seen some talk that, Coach Sark, could be waiting to see if Coach Harbaugh leaves to the NFL and could poach Coach Elston from Michigan. Not sure if that's the play, but he's certainly kept this close to his chest. You'd think if the new DL coach hire was Coach Wright, it would've be done and dusted by now. Either way, great grab for Coach Sark again. He's doing a great job of building analysts to help the program and it's starting to really show.

I think Harbaugh is leaving for the NFL and waiting until end of the month to announce so Michigan doesn’t have much choice but to hire Moore as HC and it will also be too late for players to enroll in many other schools at least for the spring semester to avoid a huge portal loss.
Thailand T Sip
Thanks Bobby,P didn't realize that they could be available during practices. Just thought it was in sessions like the film room.

They're definitely out there during practice but are limited in what they can do.

Would be hard to pull, Elston, as he's a Michigan alum, but he's a great developer and recruiter. Had some really good DL guys at Michigan. There is a chance he might get the bump to DC, too. As word is that if Harbaugh leaves, the DC from Michigan is likely to follow him. Will be interesting to see anyway.
