Texas fan in Georgia Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago What @Gerry Hamilton said this morning on rapid reactions is true. The next 3 weeks will mean nothing. Texas is gonna look like the best team in the country when they beat 3 scrubs by 30 and arch looks like the second coming, they’ll probably even score every red zone possession they get over the next 3 games. But none of it means anything. October 4 is the most important game on the calendar right now. If Texas can go to the swamp in what will almost certainly be a night game and execute offensively at a higher level than what they did in Columbus, the ship can be righted and perception can change. But if a visit to the swamp is similar to the visit in Ohio, everything about sark is gonna be questioned IMO. Deandre Moore looked pretty pissed off after the game. Hopefully he turns into a leader and steps up. The one bright spot I had about the offense was how good the o line looked except on the last drive. Looked like they whiffed on a free rusher and led to the short pass to endries. 4 Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Also, and I could be way off base with this but it’s just a thought, is it time to evaluate AJ Milwee? I mean he’s a better QB coach with me, but arch’s mechanics looked completely different from last year. I don’t remember ever watching him throw it sidearm and that’s one thing Quinn was notorious for. Also arch was putting way too much mustard on short routes especially on the 3rd down throw to wingo that could’ve went for a pretty big gain Quote

No doubt the defense will be great, but Arch has some things to work through and until he does, not sure how great they will look. Nothing I saw yesterday worries me about winning the next three home games, but I'm not sure how convincing we will look on offense until Arch works things through. My expectations around Arch - which means around the offense - have been reset. He's been the one saying it: he hasn't done anything yet. Until he does, he needs to prove he can (not get the benefit of the doubt). Not giving up on him in the slightest - this was a painful growing lesson. Let's see him grow from it (I think he will, but I'm not going to assume he'll be ready for Florida until he shows he is), Quote

I was never one of the ones that publicly called for arch over Quinn and yesterday showed why. I am convinced that sark is overrated and living on past glory as a play caller . 1 1 Quote
Texus Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Sark’s gameplan was as bad as Arch’s execution of it. Where was the creativity? I’m baffled. Quote

I’m trying to hold on the hope that the playcalling in sec play will be a complete 180 of what we seen yesterday. Sark knew he didn’t have to win yesterday. And the playcalling reflected it. Quote
Chris Evans Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago UF is the season. OU o line is awful. A&M both lines are weak. They are both cooked. 1 Quote

Unless he gets to the SEC title game at 9-3 and wins it, they have to go 10-1 in their next 11 games to make the CFP guaranteed. That loss left little margin for error overall, even if it didn’t affect their confidence standings. Will a 6-2 conference record be enough to get them back to Atlanta? Who knows. A 7-1 record get them in guaranteed imo 1 Quote

And they don’t play each other this year. Texas has to beat Florida and OU and then I could see the Georgia game being a winner gets to Atlanta type implications. 1 Quote

UF’s offense will be a bigger test for this defense than even Ohio State. They will be battle tested from two back to back big road games against Miami and LSU. Could be too beat up to beat Texas but probably not. Sark has to prove he can beat OU back to back, they’re PO’ed and want revenge, and when they have a competent QB before I pencil that in as a win. Should beat A&M regardless as that game has the biggest effect on recruiting for Texas. I’ll throw Arkansas in there as they are a rival, but Texas should be okay in that matchup. Quote
drag worm Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I’d put the Florida and OU games together in this discussion. Mateer was slinging it yesterday and Sark is going to have to show that his offense can win in a shootout one of these days. 1 Quote

I see your point but as long as the defense plays like they did yesterday minus the badly timed penalties I don’t see Texas having to get into a shootout. They need to be able to score 24-28 points a game and they should win. 2 Quote

Their oline is not very good. Quote
alrightalrightalright Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Mateer played Illinois St. yesterday. Let’s see if he can throw for 392 yards against Michigan and Auburn 1 Quote

None of those teams would stand a chance against them period. Quote

I agree, 30/38 for 392 yards is a great game. I’m looking forward to Michigan / OU this weekend. That’ll be their first true benchmark, Michigan prides itself on their DL 1 Quote
