So everyone list your top 3 OL coaches Sark should hire?   Oh do not use google... Let's hear it..

Why is this the typical response from people? We can't criticize Floods OL, so list your top 3 OL coaches? You're allowed to call out poor play by the OL and the coach that is supposed to be "the best in the business" when you can't even get a push against less competition. When they're missing basic assignments, still making mental errors/mistakes, etc. This isn't a trend just this year.

Should he be fired? Probably not. But he definitely deserves criticism for the way his OL's play.

The OP is calling for Flood to be fired. I simply asked who should we hire.

IMO if Sark does decide to hire a new play caller he should let the play caller then choose if Flood should be retained or bring in his own. I'm of the belief that the play caller should bring his own due to the fact there is continuity there and each know what is needed to create the offensive identity. We are 5 years in and we do not have an offensive identity or something we can point to and be like "yes, that is the Texas offense."

Yep that's helped PK build his defense into what it is today.  Since he has a position coach for every room on defense, he can focus exclusively on game planning.

Fair enough, but with the way Coach Flood has recruited/developed the position over his tenure, some questions do need to be asked. I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility, imo.

We can point to NFL draft picks but can you tell me our OL's have been dominant? To another posters point that our OL's are better than Herman and Strong's, that is a given. But that is a low bar to set.

Also, my bad for coming off a bit d*ckish, I'm just frustrated is all, like I think we all are.

I’m not calling for him to be  fired at all, but I am of the belief that we may have seen the best of Sark as a coach and program builder.  It’s not a given that he’s going to win titles here. When we look back on the Sark era, we may realize that his best contribution to the program was to get it back to a championship “caliber” program.

The vast majority of coaches who won titles did so within the first five years of being the coach of the team/program. History shows that if Sark doesn’t do it this season, he probably never will with Texas.

There are exactly 3 active coaches with National Championships.  Kirby won in year 6.  Day won in year 6.  Dabo won in year 9.

The OL was always going to regress pretty significantly when you lose your starting center, left guard, right tackle, and left tackle all to the NFL. Not to mention your LT was a top 10 pick and the Center being the most difficult to replace. Outside of having all new starters the biggest issue I see even with improvement is the lack of athleticism at left guard. That is a Charlie Strong level offensive guard.

The problem is that last year's OL wasn't good at run blocking in short yardage, goal line, or red zone situations. It's a systemic issue. And that's why I say it's on the OL coach.

Fans keep excusing Sark with history lessons: ‘Kirby in Year 6, Day in Year 6, Dabo in Year 9… Saban went 5-7 his first year!’

What they leave out: Kirby was in national championship game in year 2, year 6 and year 7. Saban won a title in Year 3 and Year 5. Sark’s in Year 5 with a losing record vs elite teams, 1-6 vs top 5, 4-12 vs top 15 while at Texas. In order to win a title you have to show you can beat elite teams. Stop cherry-picking, do some actual research.

It’s impossible to excuse Sark when you shove this same stat down our throat every day here and on Twitter. A Kyle Flood thread and you still find a way to tie it back to your hatred of the head coach.

You’ve been calling for the guy to be fired since the day he was hired.

I’ve seen enough. He had three years to work towards replacing the 2024 starters… and this is what we got.

We didn’t pick up anyone in the portal. That’s an abject failure in the evaluation of his own room over the past two seasons.

We’ve had multiple huge whiffs in recruiting.

For the past four years, our offensive line has showed little in the way of power run blocking and short yardage, with poor aggression and bad technique. Even the 2024 crew was bad in the red zone.

The guy has OC in his title and gets paid like one, but he doesn’t even call plays or take primary responsibility for game planning. All he has to do is get his room to be able to block for the schemes Sark wants to run. So he’s really just a mediocre to poor OL coach getting paid like one of the most expensive OCs in the country and has shown no track record of being able to recruit or develop.

The above in aggregate is cause enough for dismissal at the University of Texas, a place where he has had essentially limitless resources as his disposal.

It’s malpractice for the OTF mods to not be having a more serious discussion about this topic.

@CJ Vogel has the chance to start asking the tough questions at Sark’s press conferences.

I’ve never called for Sark to be fired, I respect him as a coach. Critiquing his record vs elite teams isn’t personal; it’s relevant analysis. I knew I could get you out of the weeds, but instead of engaging with the actual point, you turned this into emotional drama and excuses. That overreaction doesn’t change the facts….it just highlights a lack of perspective on your part.

I’m all for disagreements and different points of view, but please don’t lie. We’ve all seen you post across multiple message boards over the years after any loss on the field or on the recruiting trail.

Let’s also not forget you blamed Sark for not playing Arch Manning last year and have now turned around to blame him for how Arch Manning looks.

That’s not me. Dragging random accounts here and taking screenshots? Weird. Go debate on Twitter like an adult—making up stories won’t change the facts.

A twitter account that tweets about OTF and posts the exact same stuff you do on here. What a coincidence. You are free to have your own opinions, but stop the lying. You have never supported nor been a fan of Steve Sarkisian.

Arch a likely top 5 or top 10 draft pick — spent the year on the bench behind a player who hasn’t been picked halfway through the 6th round. If Arch Manning had been the starting quarterback from the beginning of the season, Texas would have won the national championship. That’s a major failure on Sarkisian’s part as a coach.
