Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 13 hours ago Moderators Posted 13 hours ago Florida head coach Billy Napier says QB DJ Lagway is "100%" as of Wednesday during his time on the weekly SEC Teleconference. The UF QB was in a boot following the Gators' loss this weekend to Miami. However, Napier says the boot was due to the sophomore quarterback being stepped on in the game and that he "is fine" at the moment. Florida is idle this week, then will host the Longhorns on October 4 in Gainesville. 13 1 Quote

hookem1014 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Great now everyone has time to delete their tweets about how Texas is playing a backup and instead say they’re playing a struggling QB 8 Quote

Bunk Moreland Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Yeah, I don’t want any sneers from the national pundits about how Texas stomped Florida with their backup QB. They’re already going to say “oh well, Florida is now 1-4, so we don’t really know that much about Texas since they beat a bad team.” Which is completely disingenuous, but we might not get any credibility going forward in any game unless/until we beat Georgia on the road. That’s pretty much our first chance to prove that we are for real (or not). 2 Quote

Steamboat Willie Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I think there’s a little missing from Napier’s statement—could be coachspeak, could be that he’s not telling the full story on Lagway’s health. Either way, injured or not, Lagway’s profile as a athletic but still inconsistent QB actually works in our favor. Facing him in the Florida game gives Texas a look at the kind of challenges they’ll see the following week with Hawkins at OU. From a preparation standpoint, that first game should be a perfect tune-up for the second. Pray that we can stay healthy. 1 Quote

From a preparation standpoint, that first game should be a perfect tune-up for the second. Pray that we can stay healthy. Kind of but they're a little different. Lagway wants to escape to throw and generally keeps his eyes up and wants to throw from the pocket first. Hawkins is the total opposite when he escapes he's looking to run and if his first read isn't there his eyes will drop and he'll trust his legs and look to escape to run. Even with Lagway struggling, I'd rather face a qb like Hawkins if I'm a defensive back or defensive end. Hawkins type qbs are predictable, with the Lagway types you have to cover a lot longer if the rush don't get home because every now and again he'll escape and be pin point accurate on a deep throw he hasn't made all year. 1 Quote
Hookem72 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago In two weeks Lagway will be a worry. Look at what he did to Georgia last year. I am unsure if Georgia was prepared or not for him, but he is no joke when it clicks. I am more worried about Lagway than I was about Mateer. Just look at how Arch struggled. I’m going to this game and looking forward to the Swamp. I think they will regret moving it to 2:30. This will be a good game. 3 Quote
