Did he turn down the Texas tech job in belief he’d have a shot at Texas or Aggy? Did he turn any other p4 jobs down?

He turned down Texas Tech ... but there was no way to know what would happen with NIL at the time. To the level of commitment by Cody C.

He turned down opportunities at ASU, Colorado, Purdue and 3-4 others.

Do you think he might've Matt Campbell'd himself but even worse being stuck in the G5 nightmare?

@Gerry Hamilton, just curious, were most of those HC positions?

Traylor and Kinne are obviously both great head coaches, but they both seem to have misestimated their teams' trajectories and experienced setbacks this year.

(yeah, I know, haven't we all)

Is OSU really choosing Colin Klein over GJ Kinne or Jeff Traylor?

Oh yeah. He turned down HC gigs at ASU, Colo, Purdue, TT and 2-3 others

G5 jobs are very difficult these days IMO. Your best players getting ripped on an annual basis. Not having a spring portal window should help G5 schools to keep from getting shredded in spring with no true chance to replace guys you love with guys you have to gamble on

Thanks Gerry. I have a Tech buddy who claims Traylor is a bad coach so I mentioned that there was reporting Traylor turned down the tech job. He said he had a friend that knew someone that worked directly with the AD and McGuire was always the guy for them. I just remembered the reports Traylor was their first choice.

I’m not sold on Kinne. He hasn’t looked good without players recruited by Eric Morris. He’s never built a program. If I were one of the lower p4 teams I’d go with Morris over Kinne and most likely Traylor as well.

Did get interview with aggy? Obviously they were very unlikely to hire a guy straight from UTSA.

Tech should dump McGuire and hire Traylor. They are going to be pissed when Tech loses to KSU and BYU to miss the Big 12 championship and get stomped by us in the Texas Bowl.

He did get an interview 2 yrs ago but turned it down

Just a daily reminder that all coaches are ego fueled hypocrites.  Traylor last night complained about the “total disrespect” Sumrall and Tulane showed UTSA by implying they pipe in noise at the stadium.

Oh Jeff.  Let me take you back to 2022 when you did the same thing about DKR, even getting in a little heated conversation with Sark at midfield whining about piped in noise.

And totally separate…

Who hires first? LSU, Penn State, or Florida?

Can’t wait for the dominoes to start falling

GJ Kinne not having the type of season to elevate

Eric Morris has age and what have you done for me lately on his side

Traylor is easily the most successful coach of the three with 2 C-USA titles, multiple state titles as a HC coach and having proven he can build and lead programs. But he is also the oldest of the goup, and likely 7-5 this season in the what have you done for me lately.

100% know Traylor turned it down

I am not sure whether we are weighing in on coaches (esp. Traylor) or the AlamoDome.  I will speak to each.

I gave up my DKR seats after 4X years because of Austin traffic before and after games.  I replaced my football fix with UTSA.  It is 15 minutes from my house to my seat in the AD.

Yes, the PA announcer and the noise volumes are horrific.  I never leave a game without a headache.

As for Traylor, he is an exceptional coach.  Whether he can be an exceptional "ring master' at a major university is unknown.

Why not choose Klein?  He is the OC of the number three team in the nation and from the Bill Snyder coaching tree.  He was a hard-nosed football player, and he knows how to win with a KSU type roster.  For over a year, some of you kool aid drinkers ranted and raved that Klein didn’t have what it took.  Well, he has turned Reed into more than functional QB and with two very good portal WRs has turned the Aggy offense formidable even w/o their best RB.  Nothing against Kinne or Traylor.
