How Texas makes the CFP

Starting off, Texas has to win out and does need a little help, but not anything crazy IMO.

6 toughest Schedule in NCAA 

Team Ranks ahead of Texas in the CFP

Georgia

Ole Miss

Notre Dame

 Alabama

 Utah

 Miami

 Vanderbilt

 USC

 Georgia Tech

 Texas

What Texas needs to happen to get in (these all should happen)

1) OSU beats Michigan
2) Tennessee beats Vandy
3) Tech beats BYU
4) Oregon beats USC
5) Georgia beats Georgia Tech

If those 5 things happen, that would push Texas to at least 13th. Then the debates begin.  

1) Does 3 loss Texas gets in over a 2 loss ACC/Big12 team?  I would think yes due to quality wins/strength of schedule

2) Does CFP give Texas a nod over higher teams because it's a bigger name brand that can bring a lot more eyes than a UTAH/BYU?  Texas coming in as an 11/12 seed would make for compelling TV and CFP is still a business

What will help Texas

1) OU losing 
2) Pitt winning out (takes out Miami)


While the season is definitely on life support, i don't think it's a hard stretch to see Texas still make the CFP, especially if everyone else (except for Aggies and OU) take care of their business.

It’s fun to talk playoffs, I get it. More fun to watch other games if they impact Texas somehow. Love the arguments about strength of schedule, record, conference etc. And I never need an excuse to root against OU. I just can’t get into it this year because this is just not a playoff team unfortunately.

I will always fight with the team until there is nothing left to fight for.  We can still get in.  Once we do, let the chips fall where they may.

Yes we are Joe we just need to beat A&M by 65 and have a few programs get the death penalty within the next 2 weeks

Texas will need to ranked 10th or better to make the  CFP. The group of 5 will be 12th and ACC 11th IMO

I’ve already come to the cold hard truth that we’re not a playoff team this year.

Give it up, it's not happening. You can't say you deserve the playoff after losing to Florida and getting pants at Georgia. We have looked like a mediocre team for most every game, and the defense is finally breaking down because the offense and STs is an abysmal joke. We have played 10 games, so 20 halves of football. We have played complimentary football in two of those halves. OU and Vanderbilt. 2 out of 20. That's not a playoff team.
